It's been about 3 months since I've really gotten to drive the truck, let alone work on it, or even really post on here, but I got the week off, so I finished up some work I had to do at the shop, shipped some stuff out and was left with 6 days of nothing to do. so we hit the bone yard, and for $50 and 18 hours or so of my time ended up with a reg cab short bed. Now to just wait for the fuel cell and find the time to do some body work.

First impressions, with the long bed rolling on the throttle in 3rd gear resulted in spinning most of 3rd gear. now i even have traction in 2nd if im careful, so traction is much better.

I havent gotten it on the scales yet, but I will once the cell is in.

that is nice!!! diesel sport truck what are you gonna run for a fuel tank i see it in the bed of the truck.. fuel cell or 1500 short bed tank?
 
that looks sweet. i don't understand why they never made a reg cab short bed from factory.

for the tank, yes the stocker is in the bed, i ordered an RCI 16 gallon plastic cell, should be here tuesday.

i have no plans of boxing in the frame, future plans might include 4 linking it. but with how well it hooks I may not.

i cut 16.5" off the driveshaft and welded it back together, the local shop was so busy they wanted $200 to shorten it, so i did it myself, no vibrations, but seeing as the shaft sees maybe 4000 rpm (and by that point id be doing 130mph) i really wasnt expecting any. even if it does vibe and eventually breaks, i have drive shaft hoops.

to be honest, the hardest part of the swap was finding a halfway decent bed for a good price, i got this one for $50 and my 8 foot bed.
 
You just dont know what to do when you can weld a whole bead without burning through do ya?

I was with the family, my kids were trying to get me to race everyone from every damn stoplightLOL while driving the wifes suv. Im gonna be in Cromwell tomorrow night so ill shoot over and look for ya, ill be driving a Black Nissan Armada.
