Cummins Headgasket is MADE IN CHINA!!!

I bought a upper engine gasket set for my 12 valve from Cummins on Friday. Opened the box on Saturday and took it outside to compare it to my old gasket and stamped into the new gasket is MADE IN CHINA!! The gasket LOOKS good and is heavier then the old one with more red sealer ect. Should I take a chance and put it back together with it or not. What would you guys do? Mike
 
That sucks. I guess i would go ahead and use it, but im tired of everything being made overseas!!!

No wonder the U.S. is in the shape it is in.
 
97crewcab do you think the China H.G. is as good as others you have used? Sounds like you have blown thru a number of them, thanks for the info.
 
I would sure hope that Cummins Chinese factories wouldn't have any kind of the quality control problems that China-owned and operated Chinese factories would have.

Cummins has had factories all over for decades. Indiana, New York, India, England, Mexico, Brazil, et cetera et cetera. I can't fault them for having a factory in China when they are trying to sell as much to China as possible.
 
I have several Hilti tools made in China. Quality is the same as the rest of my Hilti stuff.

Not that there aren't other issues with making things in China, but not everything made there is junk. If the companies require the products to be made to the same standards to protect their name and reputation, as I'd assume Cummins does, I'd have no issues running them.

Those weren't all my truck's gaskets. I had a cummins .20 next to a FP diesel .20 both made in china both looked identical, minus one number stamped in it. I wouldn't blame any blown head gaskets on the gasket itself yet.
 
It only disturbs me because, WHAT the HE## happened to the COMMUNIST party being our ENEMY? Why do we even do bussiness with China. I understand the free mkt concept VERY well but come on when I was a kid in the 70s NO one did bussiness with Russia? Why is the goverment and big bussiness even buy their wares.... EVERYONE needs to wake up just a bit... If I bought a gasket or anything that said Made In China I would take it back and demand one made in a friendly country.... PERIOD.. End of story. If that takes running NON Cummins parts SO F&*^%ing be it.... Japan products iritate me enough already.... I dont want my grandkids to have what they think censored.... And if people continue on the current path and do no stand up for the VALUES set forth by or forfathers yours will have that happen..... We rely too much on China's trade surplus and purchase of our treasury bonds to get caught up in little things like them being populary-supported totalitarian communists. Come on, we've been the doomed half of Chimerica for twenty years now, get with the picture.

And that has bearing WHY? it does because people dont take pride in our country any more, our values as a country just expect more free sh%t.... It has no bearing in other countrys especially China. What gov says goes..... I dont care if their kids have shoes, UNTIL EVERY kid HERE has shoes you get the concept.... USA the country that I was taught to love by WW2 vets and K/W Vets MY grand pappy and uncles and pappy in vietnam.... Every Family has vets..... You think your grandpa or dad or uncles that gave their life to get rid of COMMUNISIM would be happy if YOU yes YOU supported it.....

Come on people, this ain't 1953, the world has changed, and you are gonna have to deal with it. Companies do business in lots of other countries, in most cases, more business than they do here. And having one country that is communiust isn't gonna make the whole world communiust, didn't we learn that after Vietnam?

They all support it too, so I don't feel none too guilty. It's pretty hard spending a dollar anywhere without several of those pennies going to China, just as it's pretty hard to spend a dollar without several of those pennies going to Saudi Arabia.

YOU think that YOU go a day without sending a few dollars to China?
 
We all take pride in our country. But in this day and age we can't be an isolated society if we expect to survive and stay on the leading edge of technology.

I can GAAAARUNNNTEEE not only go DAYS I NEVER.....unless it is steel that is made into a fender here or in canada and only cause I DID(DO) NOT KNOW...... Last time I checked I did not realize Saudi was COMUNIST....... Apples to Oranges buddro
