Just as the title states. How many hooks do you put on an oil change?

I've already done a few as my motor is new.. My last change had 3 hooks on it and the oil was a dark honey color.

Lets here what the rest of you are doing!

Supposed to be a poll.. So much for that..

If a mod sees this please add the options:
1-2, 3-4, 5-6, or 7+, thanks..

thats simple...

convert your engine to alcohol so you will have to change it every hook:rolleyes:

garrett get a amsoil dual pybass sysytem and about every 6 hooks take oil out and put in another vehicle and use it and fresh in puller

I'd just as soon burn it in my tow-rig's fuel tank then throw it into another truck's oil pan.

How in the hell does your oil stay that clean? It seems like the moment I start mine back up after an oil change its as black as it was before I changed it lol.

mine stays clean for 2000 miles or so with amsoil, 3500 miles on it now and some dirty but not as bad as rotela ever was

No idea.. The oil was still quite translucent after 1 hook and about 20 mins of idling time.

Even my 97 is clean for 2k miles after a change at 240k miles.

I pulled all year last year on the same oil :D Probably 30 hooks or so. But im making a few less HP and my motor has 230K on it.

Bobcat698, Destroked gets change every 3-4 hooks. I know Kevin Cole also changes his every 3-4 hooks. Remenber oil is always cheaper than a motor. I would not go over 4 hooks. That is what we were told by Kurt & Van Haisley.

That is the info I have heard. Cut the filter and look for pieces also.

I run Schaffer oil and change it every 4 runs, i would not go anymore than that, after 1 run it starts to smell like fuel

I will only run 3 hooks on my diesel super stock truck before changing it and i check my oil filter after every hook

You can buy valvoline dura blue at autozone for $10 a gallon.

Thats cheaper than this dirty oil:

I run the dual bypass, figure I am going for 10 hooks with a full synthetic oil. It is black, but I don't detect alot of fuel. I had an oil anaylysis done like 2 years ago or so and it came back as suggesting a change, and I bet I had 20 hooks+ on it. Granted I am running a little more fuel, and a little more charger now.

Best bet is to probably find an oil analysis place and start with 3 hooks, and change it, send in the analysis, review results. Next time go 4 hooks, and change and results, etc etc.
