I change oil after every hook, filter every two hooks and it get's opened, call it over kill but as stated it's cheaper then a motor and is the life blood :)

Best bet is to probably find an oil analysis place and start with 3 hooks, and change it, send in the analysis, review results. Next time go 4 hooks, and change and results, etc etc.

Yup, and I would change one hook sooner than your first questionable analysis occured.

Y'all are some oil changing people. 1500ft on an oil change...

Good thing most of you dont drag race:hehe:

do you guys have wing nuts on the drain plug? lol another question is what weight oil are you guys running?

I'd just watch the fuel in it. My rule of thumb is if it smells like fuel, change it. My nose can typically smell anything over 3% fuel which has been confirmed when the sample is tested.

Blackstone takes a day to get there from here. I get an emailed result about 36-48 hours after I drop it in the mail.

I run a Fumoto valve, quick, easy & clean oil changes.
I currently run 20W 50 oil.

thats what they run in the badger state tractor we sponser and i think they 6-8 hooks or more on a oil change but not sure i will have to ask them this weekend and they dont run coolant in there block either

Don't forget, if you spray a lot of water, you are getting some into the oil from blowby.

Well reading this has changed my mind. I was planing on changing every six hooks. But after reading this I will change more often. I guess the case of Cen pe co gallons I just got will not last long. Cheaper then a new engine for sure.

What about someone like me running a streetable 550hp 24v? I don't have nearly the fuel you guys have so I'm thinking about every 10 hooks with a fresh filter.

Also I'm running 10w-40...should I bump up to a heavier oil for pulling season? Its due for a change soon (2 hooks this weekend), so maybe I can go to 20-50.

I run amsoil 15-40 full synthetic. Get with our buddy Gene(AKA sledpuller) and buy a 30 or 55 gallon drum of it. Any oil that I use in quantity I buy in a drum. I basically place one huge order with amsoil yearly($2500+) and I get all of my filters, tranny fluid, engine oil, grease, cetane boost, fuel additive, gasoline stabilizer at once. They will drop ship it by truck and it is a flat rate.
On some orders I have split the oil with someone. Gas cans make excellent storage containers. This gets the cost way down.

I am off of my amsoil soap box, but I will say I have had good luck.
My current car has been seeing filter changes every 5,000 and oil every 10,000. Getting ready to break 150,000 on it. Still doesn't use a drop and gets 23-24 around town, and 29-30 on the highway.

Ditto, same valve and I use the 20W-50 synthetic.

Lot's of water and fuel is why I change after each hook, again might be over kill.

How in the hell does your oil stay that clean? It seems like the moment I start mine back up after an oil change its as black as it was before I changed it lol.

I know what you're saying, mines the same way with cen-pe-co oil and 56,000 miles on the engine.

Not related to this post but I know The Cen-Pe-Co Silver Bullet alky pulling tractor changes every couple hooks. Like 2 max. They also change bearings every 4 or when practical.

But that is info from a few years ago.

Who's the quickest to get results from Forest? I don't want to get results after the season is already done.

Thanks!

Blackstone does mine. They usually get me the results the same day they get it (If I want it quick, I overnight it, if not, the regular mail). I have them e-mail me the results so I don't have to wait.
