Andy, no problems there, the body has been outside in full direct sun, my back has the burn to prove that-LOL

Tiger Rag said:Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but is this different that the Lenco/Bruno transmission that you said you had sourced? Is this in addition to the drive line of the Lenco/Bruno? Just trying to understand a little better. Didn't know if you had changed your mind on the transmission or what the reason might be. :banghead: :banghead: :drive:
The body work is coming out awesome though. Looks low and mean. Can't wait to see what she'll run! Nice job and good luck with the rest of the project. :Cheer:
RacinDuallie said:Yes the origonal plan was to go with a Bruno bolted to a Lenco. But after talking atlength to both trans companies, I decided on a Liberty behind the Bruno....... Liberty had better options for my situation....
I did have a Lenco already sourced through a friend and it was a very good unit for the money, yet the gearing in this Lenco would have needed to be changed out to suit my rig and that's where the deal went into a different expense category..... If the gearing was closer to what would have been acceptable believe me I woulda had bought that sucka in a heartbeat...
:thankyou2:

Good luck on the driveline build up. Nice thread by the way! ....and nice truck!
Bruno Drive + Liberty 5spd + Converter
Thought about that too Jim, but I'll wait for the Bruno-Liberty set-up.....:evilJim Fulmer said:The perfect setup in my eyes!
What about running a built 47 with a manual V/B if you were on a budget?
Jim
It might work if you can get a complete manual valve body , a transbrake that will hold up under full power , and a non lock up converter that have room in it to use a converter that will multiply torque and hold the motor at peak hpJim Fulmer said:The perfect setup in my eyes!

Our ATS Dragster trans has a trans brake that held even up to 70 PSI of boost on the line. NEver had a issue, never broke a shaft. In a light vehicle, the lock up may not be the ticket, as everytime we locked the converter, it would go into tire shake. Sometimes a converter can be a blessing, as it acts a a cushion in the link to keep smooth power applied.gunracer1 said:why a non lock up converter???? if it has a nice flat tq curve the lock up converter is a big benefit. it if is a strict high hp low tq motor i would agree with you. but i have heard that ats has built a trans brake. but that it poped the intermediat at 40lbs of boost.
I don't need issues with tire shakes in a 2500 lb racer. So I'd feel better waiting for the Bruno/Liberty set-up. I did discuss the transmission deal with Scott and the tire shake issue raised a red flag with me.....gunracer1 said:i can see you having tire shake issues with the rail. but in a heavier truck the lock up seems to be a blessing. i was pretty sure ats had done a trans brake, glade to here it can hold that kind of power. did you keep trying to up the tire pressure to see if it help with the shake at lock up? i am thinking that just a bit of tire slip on lock up would cushion it also. but this is just a guess on my part.

SCHOOL BUS said:i know i am over a year late in the paint discussion, and i dont know if you have picked a color yet(not enuff time to read thru 30+ pages!) but since your sponsor, team, business (not sure) is called vanishing point racing, why not go w/ the new chrysler off white color ( like the vanishing point challenger) you see on 300's and ram 1/2 tons?
