dhra 4500rpm limit in street class???

Make no mistake...the 2006 D-Max can turn way over 4500RPM and if you get this rule removed, I think you wish later you didn't. Not only will it help us in the long run but it will price everyone else out of the sport trying to keep up. I think you will see huge changes in the D-Max combinations over the next few months.

Be careful what you wish for!:rules:

I think that is why they are pushing for a 3.0 class with the 5000 rpm limit.

im pretty sure i wont be regrettin nothing if they change the rule back that just means that I will be able to go ballz to the wallz and use all of our motor in our truck and that meens we will be able to lay down some nasty runs without havin to worry about gettin dq'd, so ide say im pretty carefully for what i wish for.

that makes no sense. if everyone was priced out and nobody shows up, a stock truck could enter and win.

how about we set a price limit for a level playing field. i wonder would win that one?

$50k dmax + $8k trans + $5k turbo + $15k motor work

$5k 96 dodge + $2k clutch + $3k turbo + $5k in motor work

keep up the good pullin' billygoat!

smokinbillygoat, Do you run over 4500 rpm down the track or just coming off the line. I don't know many street trucks that can hold 4500 down the track.
The 4500 rpm limit is a big advantange to the autos.

smokinbillygoat,

your truck runs awesome and it looks great but even at Shelbyville you were a little short with running the high RPM. It seems that the stick trucks need the RPM to run with the auto's but when you allow the auto to have the RPM then it seems the other trucks have a hard time keeping up. The RPM control is more about cost of engine and maintenence to me? I still think you guys all have awesome trucks but we need to keep cost in mind also when making rules. We are headed towards building a mod truck but there are a few things we need to figure out first. It may take another year but we are making progress with the D-Max.

On another note...any one who is building a mod truck deserves a great deal of respect in my opinion do to the R & D involved. It doesn't matter what brand it is...it's still cool!!!:rockwoot:

As soon as you have dual cp3's on a truck and a 2.8 charger your into big money for the DMAX crowd. There are some guys that are getting away with it, but they feel they are on borrowed time.

Are you going to try and run super street 1st. No with a D-max has proved to be competitive and reliable in that class yet.

We will probably bypass SS just because the truck for it would not be the truck for the Mod class. If we can't do the mod truck in a early time frame, we may step our truck up to be somewhat competative in the SS class. The cylinder head configuration and tuning are being worked on by PPE, SoCal Diesel and ATS. I played the step up game when I was running outlaw pro street and it would have been much cheaper just to jump from the lower class straight to the pro class do to the chassis designs and engine configurations. It takes a lot of sponser money along with our own to put one together the way we want...we figure somewhere in the neighborhood of $175,000 turn key but that figure could vary based off design.

The budget commity (wife) may be the limiting factor but I thnk we have the knowledge and backing to pull it off. There are a lot of things to consider such as support equipment and spare parts which we have been accumulating this year in anticipation of building one. I thnk Clint is considering building one also but we needed to perfect the LBZ ECM as a stand alone unit and I think we have it?

your head is getting to big. so you won a few street classes, don't think you can compete in SS or mod class.

This is coming from a guy who uses a screw driver to tune with!!!:owned:

Your opinion on technology really doesn't hold any value in a thread like this since you have never been at a professional level and with a proper tech dept, you seem to be behind Tony already?*bdh*

I don't think he even made a comment about technology. He just stated your head was getting big. Which is an opinion. If I do recall didn't a truck tuned with a screw driver beat you at texas and scheid? Maybe take some notes on screwdriver tuning and use them to tighten your intercooler boots!

I hear people saying now they want the RPM rule taken out. Thats funny, just remember, you will be seeing trucks like Painter's again in the 2.8 class if there is no RPM rule. Food for thought.

And?

Everybody knows the dual wheel spacers in the front of Painters truck were his big advantage! :evil

I appreciate the compliments tazman and i think its awesome yall are building a modified truck thats great but it might be hard to believe from the sound of the truck but we didnt even use near the rpms at shelbyville or other dhra pulls that we use in other pulls which is the difference between night and day with our truck, and we have beeten great running autos that are probley running the same rpms that we are if not more. And painters truck is a whole lot similar to our truck and the reason he doesnt pull in the 2.8 class anymore at dhra is because of his electric steering pump he has on it thats against the rules of the street class or he would be pulling in it.
