when a dmax makes 878 on a stock bottom end let us know please :thankyou2:
Take a guess which rod broke???
Well..................
The beast is back in the driveway and after a brief cursury review, it looks as though it may have been hurt previous to the dyno testing and was a ticking time bomb at the levels I'm shooting for:doh:
Shortly after I got it running I had a couple issues that were eventually fixed but looks like they may have helped to contribute to the damage. First I had the controller for the 2nd CP3 crap the bed which caused the top CP3 to run wide open and 25k psi rail pressure at idle!! After that was troubleshooted and fixed, on the very first test drive around the block at my house, I had an injector hang wide open. It sounded like a rod was going to come right through the side!! After pulling the injectors, I found it was #3 that had hung open. I pulled the nozzle and made sure it was clean and working properly, threw them back in and everything was fine until that fateful day!!:kick:

#3, but what style of rod?
I replaced the rods in my truck and wanted to go with those Cunningham rods. Scheid recommended otherwise. They say the stock Cummins rods are very strong but, to make them even stronger Cummins also sell "shot peen rods" which Scheids says they run in many of the 5000rpm plus trucks. Stock rods are known to split and the shot peening helps eliminate it. Probably a lot cheaper than the Cunninghams too. My $.02
