electric water pump

Are you wanting a stock replacement?? or an external pump?? We have used a surflow pump (bronze Impeller and housing.) in some tractors.. I believe its 3/4 pipe in and out..

There are at least 2 or 3 versions of the same pump design. I know the one Enterprise Engine has is good, I don't know about the others.

EEP's here. Hint: Mr. Oil-Burner has some pumps also.

WOOOOO HOOOOO another water pump thread......come on everyone...gather round....

I will say @ $299 it looks like they have come down to where more people will run them.

do they come with a wiring harness, or is it something you have to wire up on your own with a relay and toggle switch?

if it was on a toggle it might not be bad for warming the truck up in the morning LOL

I think im gonna run mine to my Painless Wiring box as it has 7 key on hots

I thought about wiring mine up on a temperature switch, but the water pump does circulate water even when the thermostat is closed, and I didn't want any major hot spots, so I run it keyed with the truck!

can you get a switch that would trigger at say 100* so the truck can warm up quicker then kick on to keep hot spots to a minimum?

if the electric pump will pass tech at all the pulls i plan on going to, then i may get it and put it on a relay and toggle with a bright blue LED on it so i know when its off and dont forget to turn it on...it would be nice for getting the truck warmed up in the winter and on cool summer nights getting ready to pull...no need to run the truck and sit in there holding it at 1500 rpms for 10 minutes to get it up to 160* or more.

I have forgot to turn mine on before oooooooooops. I run mine to a switch in the cab.

i dont know where your going to be running this summer but i think you shouldnt have a problem

I dont see how it would make a big difference if it's just circulating the stuff that is in contact with the block and head that is absorbing the heat that the motor makes anyways, It's not like the T stat is letting it circulate the coolant to and from the radiator before it gets to operating temps.

Actually, it does to a certain extent. There is an external bypass hose around the thermostat, and also an internal bypass that lets it circulate between the block and head, front to rear when the t-stat is closed...how much is actually bypassed to the radiator I don't know.

If you just want it to warm up for pulls, every now and then, I wouldn't see a problem...I wouldn't do it everyday, IMHO. Also, if you do shut it off for a pull, I'd also make sure and let it run a few minutes before hooking up, to make sure you get good circulation in the engine before putting the big load on it.

I actually want it and the electric fans to run after I shut down, to help cool things down in the staging lanes.

I kinda thought that also! So I figured I'd better post an actual answer before the thread goes south.:hehe:

I dont see why not, all you need is a relay and a temperature switch.

Dr performance sells them, they come with a wiring harness, new o-ring, and hardware. Wiring could be done many different ways. I have mine wired to come on with the ignition switch along with the fans. But also have a override switch to shut the fans off, or the fans & pump off.
