Engine build

Seriously! You really shouldnt take on this task for a customer that is putting their trust and money inuour lack of knowledge. Fine to do it on your own dime. Wade a min, kinda sounds familiar.

The coustomer understands that this is my first cummins build and says what ever happens happens. Thank god he's one of my good freinds.
 
Put a VE pump on it for starters.

I seaid i hadnt assembuled a cummins from a bare block. didnt say i was stupid. look at jqmile's truck. he is a 1000hp ve, but he gets to his 1000hp with nitrous wich isnt aloud in 2.6 pulling class. p pump is the only way to go for this class.
 
Then you should have no problem building a competitive 2.6 engine.

I dont know... im no exspert on making big power. If anyone knows, i helped build the engine in brad furlongs pulling truck (2.6) but i wasnt the one ordering the parts and it wasnt my idea to p pump it. i have the mechanical ability just not the exsact know how. I know what injectors he runs, who ported the head, the specs of the cam, where iming is set, even the size wheels in the tubocharger. i posted this to get openions on what everyone else thought i should do in order to get the big power.
 
Im really wondering....... all i wanted was sugestions and tips to help ease assmbley and help with making this engine do what im asking for...
 
As far as porting the head i'm sure Schied or Haisley will do a good job. They will take off the high spots and the humps and bumps. And call it good. I've seen the big diesel shops port jobs. What a joke. And you people pay big money for this because you can say so and so ported my head. Thats why i do it my self. And i have some awesome flow numbers back it up.

So you fetched tools, clean parts and put the oil pan on? Maybe Brad will stop by this thread and clear things up!

How could you have thought that he read them?? That don't even make sense... So Lee how many 2.6 engines have you built?? Or any pulling engines for that matter!!

You're going to go absolutely nowhere with this thread.....CompD has been useless since it started trying to be YellowBullet a few years ago.

Obviously you are just a mechnically inclined fellow looking for some help, who doesn't deserve to be murdered on the internet, and I'll PM you about the subject, sorry everyone decided to be a jerk to someone just trying to make the diesel industry better!

I was wondering why this guy was getting hammered. Just asked simple build question. Everyone jumps on him like he said he wants too make more smoke not power. Now i agree some of these guys ask some pretty dumb questions and deserve to be bashed. But this guy seemed to have logical questions.
