Engine build

You're going to go absolutely nowhere with this thread.....CompD has been useless since it started trying to be YellowBullet a few years ago.

Obviously you are just a mechnically inclined fellow looking for some help, who doesn't deserve to be murdered on the internet, and I'll PM you about the subject, sorry everyone decided to be a jerk to someone just trying to make the diesel industry better!

Jason

wow... someone willing to take 5 minutes to further their industry by helping someone with a need... aint that something

Want/ wish it would happen more. There are some great people here that are all about facts. Just not all

So far we have a 76mm HX60 clipped to 66mm for obvious reasons, it has a 26cm housing.

There are a few different turbine wheels for the HX60, you need to determine which you have. Also, just because you have an HX60 does not mean it will work as well as others, the way the cover is done is a huge part of making power with protrusion.

We are in need of injectors, cam, head work/intake, and pistons. The crank and rods will be stock units but balanced.

This is where you need to determine the budget, this will help you decide how far in depth you would like to go on each or the combined parts list.

Your best bet is to contact a few people to discuss this with, then take what they say and make an informed decision based on your judgement.

As far as your build is concerned, I would say 5x25 injectors, light head work, and the biggest cam you can find without having to flycut the pistons. If you ARE willing to flycut the pistons, then just the biggest cam you are able to find period.

As far as pistons go, I have seen coated Industrial pistons (big bowl) do well, but those were mostly on street trucks. Might want to talk to a big name engine shop and see what they recommend. And then buy some parts from them ;) The injector size may be big for some, but in my thinking it never hurt to have enough fuel, you can always turn the pump down....a lot of the "trick" is in the tune: boost, fuel, and the overall fuel and timing curve to keep the charger lit downtrack.

Good luck on the build, and everyone has to start somewhere, you're just starting a little higher than most!

pistons can be flycut As we are looking for an aftermarket set, ive had alot of people recomend big bowl pistons, or some styled out of an 04.5+ engine.
I hope zach will chime in here and suggest a cam.

Shot my turbo builder a txt and will post up the charger specs a.s.a.p. and will post pics of the way the compresser housing is styled.

I was wondering why this guy was getting hammered. Just asked simple build question. Everyone jumps on him like he said he wants too make more smoke not power. Now i agree some of these guys ask some pretty dumb questions and deserve to be bashed. But this guy seemed to have logical questions.

Thanks man, and to be honest yea we all like to smoke the vette that tried to beat us to the next red light but id be just as happy without the smoke. the tickets around here for it are very costly and make my insurance sky rocket...

Turbo specs. are cast wheel 76mm clipped to 66mm with a 1/8th inch protustion. On the back side we have a 90mm wheel wraped in a 30cm housing.

Did you have a price range picked out yet? Might help to choose where you can be tight and other places you can buy better parts.

The one thing I have found is that a 2.6 engine build and a budget don't go hand in hand. I have already spent more in just fuel and air what I was hoping to have the whole motor built for and I still need all machine work done and still have hard parts to buy. Good luck with your build.

No more the $20,000. and weve already got the engine.
ive spent $1500 on the charger and was quoted $4000 on the pump.

Shouldn't cost more than $20k. Not unless you go overboard with the fancy parts. You can find a good used 13mm pump on here for under $2500 usually.

Nice talking to you earlier, and good luck on the build!
