Exhaust Manifolds Which one is Best

It sounds like any one of these manifolds should be coated to avoid problems. I know mine will always be. Besides, they don't end up looking like crap when coated.

My port job is about done, I'll drop all the hot parts off to have them high temp black coated next week, so I'm with you.

Were do thay crack? All the ones I have seen are cracked in the center out let .Is there a pattern? Fact #1 All the manifolds that have had cracks are cast iron. fact#2 coated manifolds have crack. The question was what manifold is the best . The best for what ? Power? Crack less ? One that don't crack?

Ive cracked 3 of the aftermarket 3 piece ones, they all start to crack right above the merge or where all the cylinders come together directly above the flange. Then they continue to crack around to the bottom then down the runners in time and leak soot everywhere. I now run the HTT Stainless manifold and so far pleased with it, It's 5 pounds heavier than the others and lots of extra material up top where it seems they like to crack. Time will tell but I dont see this one cracking, it looks like a great design. Ryan

I'm surprised anyone is seeing cracks with these 2 and 3 piece manifolds. I thought it was the whole point of them being separate pieces.

I agree with 2tone in that I bet they all will have trouble eventually. I've had a 2 piece ATS for 3 yrs now and it doesn't look much different than when new. The reason.... 2000F Jet Hot coating.

:clap: I've screamed about the benifits of Thermal Barrier Coating forever!

Show me a thermal barrier coated one that cracked-

That's ok- I'll wait.:Cheer:

I think you got the odd ball person at HTT.. I've had no problems dealing with my exhaust housing from a warranty perspective, and I never originally purchased anything from HTT or a dealer until this manifold.

And besides, HTT doesn't make a second gen manifold do they?.

The idea behind the SS material works.

I had my reciept, emailed a copy to 2 different people at HTT. They both denied warranty because I didn't purchase my manifold from a HTT dealer directly. I bought my manifold from a dealer who deals through Premiere. I may be wrong about this, but doesn't Premiere count as a HTT distributor? HTT just played me for $450.

I've put over 40,000 miles on a 3 piece ATS manifold....not cracked anywhere...also coated inside and out with PolyDyn's ceramic stuff.

Ty...mine started looking like that too...20 minutes with a piece of 000 steel wool and it looked brand new again.

So $40 ish for shipping both ways + $250 to coat a mainfold +$499 =$789.00 No thanks. Think $670 for stainless looks best :poke:

until you start the truck and the SS turns blue/orange/brown...etc. I hear what you're saying but, the benefits of coating are well worth the extra $100

Both my last 2 were coated, they also cracked with 2300+* temp's. I now have a Racepak where I had no logger before, keeping temps at bay and overall tuning is soooo much diff. these days, I cant believe I didnt burn more parts up than I did, a few turbine wheels, some manifolds, and a few pistons later......stainless beats the hell out of cast iron all day long.

I cracked a ats that I had coated and know of one other that did the same that was coated.

So far, my ceramic coated, ATS Pulse Flow looks good:

Works for my needs......I bought it used for $175, paid $20 for a bead blasting and another $100-$110 to have it ceramic coated

I bought my manifold at DW price...PolyDyn is right around the corner and I know the guys there = nowhere near 789 bucks. :D

it was a no brainer for me.
