experience with larger intercooler

You need to measure the boost drop across the intercooler. A properly sized cooler will have less than 2psi drop, but up to 4psi is acceptable in a stock system.

His is far from stock... doubling the flow paths is all he really did, so pressure drop would be very tiny compared to the previous ebay setup. Hence his reason for switching to this style cooler.

I have also seen boost drop when the cooler is more efficient, denser air equals less boost after intercooler and more power.

Also, according to corky bell, with a restrictive intercooler , boost is turned up to achieve desired boost level, resulting in higher drive pressures, which in turn (due to cam lobe overlap) is a restriction in the engine that is not necessarily mechanical (flow path restrictions) causing boost to rise even more and power to drop.

The only way to tell right now is to bring it back to the tack for a new mph

When I installed a 99-03 7.3l psd intercooler on my turbo 7.3 idi, I lost 7psi. On the dyno I had the exact same peak HP numbers but with more torque.

so what you are saying is that the 12 or so psi drop i had before is bad? thanks sherlock!

this is what i want to hear... just looking for more experience with it.

crackerman. that is exactly what i believe is happening now.. to the track now!

btw according to the formulas in other threads. my boost on primary is now 34 instead of 37 psi.
boost of secondary is 9.89 instead of 10.9.
equalling about 10 psi loss at intake horn.. it spools better now though, without the surge that became present when i added the large injectors and mvp...

How are you figuring your numbers for boost from the 2 turbos?

Yes, it means you know diddly-squat about engines and turbos.

Man, i still can't get over your ego, from the last threads of mine you posted in, i will use anyone elses help here. Please stop chewing up bandwidth in my threads.

yes, mainly because the rest of the intercoolers i can find are built for direct replacement purposes. but what do you know, you havent done anything like what i have.
well you might have but who cares because you havent shown anyone.

Tormentor we all know you have a thing for the riv but your pecker will do you no good if you rub it raw. So please stop humping his leg and following him everywhere.

That math seems odd to me to figure the pressure. I can't imagine that when I was making 90psi, with a 64/65/14 and a GT4294 that had a 71mm comp wheel, that my secondary was only making 10psi or so.
