Fastest 6 spd cr

14's aren't hard in a manual trans truck if you figure out a good launch strategy and have 400+ HP.
I'm no shifting genius and I can run 14's all day in my truck. It's the elusive low 14's that I can't seem to touch.

These guys running 12's must be going thru synchros every 20 1/4 mile passes= every 5 Miles!!

I hear the G56 trannies are faster shifting than the old NV4500's and 5600's.
 
Yes my g56 is much faster shifting than my nv4500 in my 2000 or any other one that I have ever had or driven. I can shift mine so fast that it holds boost through the shift.

Yeah but I hear they break easier and faster than the other two NVs.
 
That is true. If we could get them to hold up somehow, they would be the ticket.
 
I think without a doubt I'd be in the mid 12's with my current configuration. Last year I was in the low 13's with a 66 single pump and 3.3's This year I'm making a lot more power this year and the twins spool up much faster than the 66. I just dont want to kill my tranny tryin. If some one wants to donate a spare g56 I'd give it hell tryin to get low 12's with a 6-speed

Were you by any chance at the diesel nationals in englishtown, nj last year?

ive been hoping for someone to donate a G56 to my cause as well! i know i could get deep into the 12's with my setup. if not a touch faster. but wont do it without a spare tranny ready to go in.

I was supposed to be but i didnt make it. i was at the following NHRDA race at MIR and that is were i made the 12.9 pass at.
 
Thats some fast shifting! Looks like he launched in 3rd. What clutch was he using?
 
There was a black commonrail rowing some gears last year running 13s it was awesome!

That was on the stock clutch but actually that was a 2nd gear launch. I didn't make the pass but you basically gotta master the 2nd gear launch.

those of you who run 13's or faster can ignore the following as 3rd gear launches don't apply to us POOR BAST@RDS WITH STOCK CLUTCHES :bang ha i'm just jealous

You don't drop the clutch so much as you just 'release ' it ; Start at 3000 rpm and by the time it grab's the motor has to be above 16-1700 rpm (because your not building any boost before the launch) or you will bog somethin heavy. If you do it right you blast the 3rd gear shift just as you pass about the length of an intersection- it happens fast and it's very violent
(2nd gear accelerates you so hard - than you stab the clutch; it basically sends you right into the dash, but you learn to use the energy grabbin for 3rd!)
With the stock lift pump and cp3 its double hard to cut a fast time because the programmer will eat all the fuel trying to launch the truck if you bog it too much, by the time the 3-4 shift comes around it will pop on ya.

And p.s. i dont see a pre 04.5 truck ever running that fast without some aftermarket fuel additions. at least the pusher pump for an 03-04 and even still I dont think my truck is a 13-second ride. i'm also at 5000 ft elevation though so....

the early 05 (nv5600) running 13.56@100 in this video is pure stock down to the michelins EXCEPT a smarty (170 horse version ) and an mp8 both all the way up.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. That's me and I posted this over on cummins forum way back. I actually miss that old truck. Has anyone went any faster yet? I ran a 12.6 @ 112mph a few weeks ago. I went back 2 weeks later and now have clutch issues.:bang
 
Jeff Prince did 12.19, 4 or 5 years ago with a 2wd dually.

05LLY just went 12.11 the other day.

Its in the drag racing section.
 
05_LLY broke the manual trans diesel record with the 12.11. If he can get it to launch like it should he should have no trouble getting into the high 11s.

I got a 12.90 out of my 05 CR.
 
Local kid hear does 04 1/2- 4th -4x4 launches at the bridge,I don't know any times as this isn't a track but he's beet many a mustangs ,did kill the 6 speed and a clutch or two.
 
My truck will do low 13s with just smarty tnt and a silver bullet at 45psi. I know my sig shows 13.5 but I have since refined my launch and I should be able to pull off low 13s in it now. Ill prolly never find out now though, its drag racing days are over. I plan on keepin this truck for a long time and its now gonna be my tow rig for the puller. Gotta make it last!
