Well, with the talk of some crazy fuel prices this comming summer I am just wondering what everyone is doing to combat this huge problem or at least try to save a little money while at the same time still get to pull and travel.

Prices up here in Ontario are said to get up to $1.40 a liter which is like $5.50 a gallon...pretty nutz! I my self have to travel quite a bit to the pulls and with prices like this...I have to figure out something to do or I will be doing alot less pulling this year!

Does anyone have there own fuel tank? I am thinking of getting one dropped off...there are 3 cummin's trucks in the drive way plus the 2 pull trucks. Each of us go thru almost a tank a week (I usually go thru a little more). Figure if I could get fuel now at a good price it may last untill the end of the summer.

Anyone else have anything there doing???

i would get a tank but for you pulling truck i would get a tank for off road fuel no sense of spending the money for on road for your pulling trucks if you dont drive them on the road that or start making your bio fuel

Most rules prohibit offroad fuel. It is a gamble and you need to weigh the options typically Gas spikes in the summer, Diesel is just expensive year around. So if you buy a 300 gallon tank for say $300 dollars, you betting that diesel will jump more than $1/gallon, cause you need to factor in the cost of the tank, and also the cost of your inventory(interest you could earn if the money was sitting in the bank). If someone gives you a tank and pump it would probably be worth it it you have to buy the tank and pump I would say not unless you can get a 1000 gallon tank for say $250. Of course your inventory costs have just went up too.

thats dumb they would prohibit off road fuel its no different then on road

Here in Los Angeles, diesel has went from 3.39 to 3.99 just in the last 6 mos. Shoot I've been thinking of getting a second car. Diesel rabbit? LOL

i just filled my truck today it cost 96 bucks and it is at 3.79 a gallon here

it poked up to like 3.67 in reno...

um.. im still trying to find an explanation as to why diesel is so much more expensive than say... premium???

id like to know; after all.. isnt diesel supposed to be dirt cheap compared to unleaded?

3.78 here looks like more boating and less pulling this summer here, thank god pontoon is easy on gas

$3.89 here...might be towing the pullin truck with my company truck this year...put the fuel on the company card lol.

I have a 500 gallon tank sitting here at the shop & we get it filled once every 2-3 weeks. My brothers & I own a excavating business & the fuel prices are killing us. Average job that would have cost $20k is now $30k+ just to pay fuel/taxes/delivery charges. I'm sick of this fuel situation & thinking of converting to biodiesel.

It's done that here in the last 6 WEEKS!

I'm planning on making the Bully Dog deal in Idaho, and one other event this year that I'm not sure of yet. Also some local pulls. I'm selling off both 12 valves, but will still have a CTD to go to these places. It's expensive, but the price of having fun is worth it to me. Simply won't be a weekly deal for me traveling to all the stuff though.

Fuel prices are going to make it hard to get to SDX from Cali that's for sure :(

I can't say this makes me feel better...this is from washingtonpost.com,

"Exxon broke the record it previously had set for profits by a U.S. corporation, earning $40.6 billion last year. It earned $11.7 billion in the fourth quarter, or $2.13 a share, up 14 percent from the fourth quarter of 2006. Revenue for the quarter rose 30 percent, to $116.64 billion. Exxon's profit for the year came to $4.6 million an hour.

Profits of the five biggest international oil companies have tripled since 2002.

Kenneth P. Cohen, Exxon Mobil's vice president for public affairs, said the earnings reflected the company's "long-term, disciplined approach" and investments made a decade ago when oil prices were low. With mounting exploration costs and increasingly remote oil prospects, Cohen said, the large revenues were needed to meet "the massive scale of the energy challenge before us."

Im cool with that. I have a retirement and an annuity fund that have oil shares.
ROCK ON EXXON!

More taxes on DF, thats why its higher than gas.

Guys, Start looking into WVO, and crude oil. You can run the crude straight, when its warm. Just carry extra filters with you, and a qt of ATF. When it plugs up, chnage it out, fill the new filter with ATF, it will clean the crap out, and push on.

4.16 in Ct this mourning!! Man I might have to mofify my vegi system for more heat at this rate!!!

I wouldn't be to excited about the exxon stuff. I have had exxon stock for over 3 years. Its performance has been consistent, but nothing mind blowing.

Fuel prices suck but there is nothing we can do about it. I'll cut something else in my budget to make up the difference rather than cut back on pulling.

It's not that much $ when you consider most of us have a diesel truck towing another diesel truck that is strictly for fun. Not much sympathy will come our way.

$4.06 here today! If this doesn't slow down I don't see much travel this year.
