my factory lift pump just cant keep up with 450 horse, so now i need to get a new one, problem is, i cant afford a FASS or airdog. i've heard about the holley black and other pumps like that, i found an aeromotive pump for gasoline thats a good price, what have some of you guys run? how reliable have they been? obviously i'll need a fuel pressure gauge, what does a 12 valve need for fuel pressure?

thats what i thought, i need to find a pump capable of about 60 psi then?

Ive seen many trucks at the 500-600+ hp mark with stock lift pumps and still plenty fuel. maybe the pump is just getting weak??

But other than that.... ive heard of holley blacks doin good.

my factory pump has 180k on it so im sure its just getting weak, at any rate, the holley black is a 60 psi pump i think, 110 GPH if i remember right

Your cheapest fix is to buy a new factory style lift pump and stretch the spring in the overflow valve to increase the pressure a bit. At 450HP, there is no good reason to ditch the factory setup unless you wanted a nice filter setup for better filtration.

I think the stocker should do just fine up until 525rwhp or so. I'm selling mine if you're interested on the cheap.

My brothers setup dynoed 591 on a stock lift pump that was two years old atleast cause it was on the truck when we got it. Silver bullet, 5x18 and stock inj pump tweaked on the truck. Id stick with the stocker or put a AD150 40psi on it. I run one on my truck and it keeps my 3.0 turbo with plenty of fuel.

thanks for the info guys, can i delete the prefilter/fuel heater as well as the factory filter and just mount a spin on filter under the chassis somewhere?

I was around 450hp and killing my pump. By the end of the quarter I was at 0 psi. This was on a brand new lift pump. Have a marine aeromotive setup now.

I think you want the filter on the pressure side of the system. My 94 came factory with a spin on, maybe you can find one like it?

12 valve right? what aeromotive pump are you running?

Im running the marine version of the A1000, I think its like the a11101?. I have had it for 3 years now with no issues. Also running the aeromotive regulator also.

My factory pump was dropping down to about 10-12lbs at 700hp. At 600 or less I wouldn't want the extra headaches and reliability issues of an electric pump. If you want more pump just because, go with a Mitusa pump. Lightyears ahead of an electric.

A Holley Blue feeding the factory pump would help too...but my suggestion is save for a FASS or similar pump if you think you need one...

Under 500hp, I would say there is something else wrong with your pump

My 20k mile lift pump was drawing down to 5psi on the dyno making 580hp. Went with an Air Dog

i didnt think the factory pump would support over 500 horse, thats pretty freaken crazy, could my fuel prefilter/heater be plugged or something causing me to lose fuel? the reason i say my pump is takin a crap is if im mashed to the floor in 4th, my engine will start to flutter, it wont do it at 3/4 throttle and it only does it at WOT in 4th and 5th
