I have broke a NV5600. TS event earlier this year. 2nd high, slipped the clutch just long enough to spool the turbo, then dumped the clutch. The main shaft didn't like it and said Cee-YEEEE!!!! I mostly pull 4th low now. Before I would pull 2nd high on a light sled and good track just because I would top out at 3500. Now I pull 4th low all the time since I got the TNT R tune. 2nd high at 3500 and 4th low at 4K are both 28mph with 33" tires. I friend of mine named Tye Hardin has gone through 2 NV5600 in the last 3 pulls he has made it to pulling 2nd high. He says 4th low is all he is going to pull now. I talked to the tech at All Standard Transmission in Indiana and he said always stay on the low side, especially on the NV5600. The mainshaft gets pushed sideways in 1st and 2nd gear and thats the main reason why the shaft breaks at the transfer case.
As for the G56, from what I have seen, anything over 550hp on a hard biting track is gonna shatter it. I've seen 3 trucks around here do the same exact thing. 2 were in 2nd high and one in 4th low. The problem with the G56 is the aluminum casing flexing too much under a load, which then binds up the internals resulting in carnage.
