Anyone ran both? Having trouble twisting the splines on the SCS axle. Would Haisley 37 axles solve my problem?

I really don't think you will have a problem with haisleys axles, Van told me they are good for around 1200hp. But maybe you have more than that. I know Justin had a terrible time with scs also.

I doubt you'll have any problems with the Haisley 37 splines unless you go to a twin (1200HP+) setup.
X2 I know of more than one person that twisted SCSs last year and went to 37 splines with good luck. The SCS are really no bigger than stock but a better material. That helps but not a lot. Going to a bigger shaft will make a bigger difference.

Yeah I think i should be alright with this 65mm charger im running LOL Had a friend with a 3.0 truck that twisted his clean in half, but im pretty sure his was a heat issue with a bad bearing

Those of you twisting the SCS axles, how bad are they twisted? Did they break? Did SCS stand behind them and send you a new one?

Just dont forget, when you solve the axle problem, the next piece to break is mo money-ring gear.:charger:

Aint power fun?:rockwoot::ft::woohoo:

I think a girdle will fix that problem. It has on a couple trucks i have seen.

The ones I know that twisted SCSs are running the AAM 11.5. At that time SCS was out of axles for the AAM all together. Both decided to go bigger so no resolution from SCS was needed.

Any suggestions Gene? I'm about due to ruin some ring gears as I haven't broken any yet.

I have broke 3 r&p sets and still have not broke the stock shafts, although they do have a nice twist to them. Now that I built a girdle and stuff for the r&p the shafts are more then likely next to go.

SCS will not help you at all if you twist their axles, they won't even give you a discount on the new axle or pay the shipping, they suck!!!

I thouoght that SCS claims you can draw a line down the shaft and then you can twist them all the way around so the line spirals and still not break them?? maybe you guys are sellin the SCS's short just cause they are twisted doesn't mean they are junk.

Bean, how about some pics of the girdle?

You could cryo treatment, might save a little time. But once you start down the R&P road, there is a Rockwell or Eaton at the other end.

Wish I had taken some pics but i didnt, now it just looks like a maghytec on the outside.

Pretty much what I did was take the stock cover and plasma cutthe center out of it then took some 3/4 x 1 1/2 flat and cut it to the shape of the cover and welded it in over where the caps are. I drilled and tapped the 3/4 for a 1/2" bolt, bolted the whole girdle to the rear end and then set the preload how I wanted and use some extra nuts on the 1/2 bolts to lock them in place. Then I unbolted that whole setup and installed the maghytec over the top of that whole thing, when I tighten up the bolts on the maghytec it pulled the girdle down and preloaded the caps. Worked out pretty freakin good. I also had a metalurgy place pull some hardness out of the r&p so it wasnt so dang brittle.

So how bad are people twisting the axles? Enough to notice or bad enough that you cant keep running them? Anyone broke one?

I will try to get some pics of mine up sometime. I would have continued to run mine but the splines were a little bit messed up too. Figured I might as well go with a 37 spline setup while Im putting new gears in.

i know of a guy that was breaking scs every pull. I have not broke any, but the splines sure are twisted, and that's with a non agressive tire.
