Homemade Trac-bars

The two lower connections at the axle you can use bushings since with 3 points you render the bottom two immobile. A heim/johnny joint at the top will allow for your axle to articulate for road driving. The shackle on the leaves will allow the axle to move forward and back as the springs compress. You picture should work fine.

2.5"O.D. x 1/4" DOM is plunty big if you use 1/2" wall you adding tons of uneeded weight.

Square tubing will bend easier than round. If you doing triangulated bars it wont be an issue but if you doing a single bar i would use round.

what's the difference b/n axle mounted and leaf mounted (other than the location)...performance wise

hooked, i believe its the other way around........with comparible wall thickness and size square vs. round has had the round bend and buckle faster than square will

where you at in missery hooked? i assume thats where youre from with the "show me smokers" in your sig

Darsko. you are mistaken round DOM is much stronger than square. I know this due to the fact i have been in the steel manufacturing industry for 10 years and in the design side for 5 years. Round DOM is stronger. if you where comparing Hot rolled verse hot rolled yes round would bend easier but i am talking about DOM which is much stronger than regular ERW pipe/tubing.

I live in Cole Camp. About 20 minutes south of Sedalia.

true, dom has a different make up so i agree there.... if only we had square with the same properties of dom.............hey count me in on the show me smokers stuff....... is a powercat sticker on the back window ok??? im all about the KU sticker ban though
