lookin at all these sweet pullin trucks on here and see most are 12v's and cr's... how competetive could my 01 VP be in a 2.6 class... and what are some mods that i need to be looking at to do so??

You'll be competitive if you had a turbo & a box to turn 4k rpm. I would also get a Fluidamper & Valvesprings.

At least a good Dual disc clutch and as many Rpms as you can get to get the sled moving... only choice you have there is the Redline or Adrenaline, and the Adrenaline may or may not work for ya. You'll also need a good 66mm turbo... Either a Silver Bullet or S400 would be the best bet, but you can still do quit well with anything else with a 2.6 compressor. Just depends were you pull also, we talking competitive at Scheids or TS or competitive at a local fair pull? 2 different playing fields.

The Adrenaline now has ability to get all vp trucks to 4k+....Quad started a thread about it on DTR. He said that 4500-5000 is capable if the vp would do it.

Good Point! Some of the better running brush pull trucks ar VP's, but at bigger events, they fall back in the pack pretty far. If your just wanting to go out and have fun, a good SO pump, 240 injectors, and a 66mm turbo would get you a pretty strong pulling truck!

Everybody knows that VP trucks are not competitive:poke:. Definitely a strong DD clutch, springs if you want to go to 4k, probably a electric water pump or a by-pass kit, and depending on what inj you use that 95 fass may not be enough. That NV4500 may need a bigger output shaft before the clutch$.02. A bad additude and a heavy foot, have fun fixin broken parts:rockwoot:

ya i'lll never pull any thing more than brush pulls for now..... how is a 66 turbo goin to be fore daily driving?? the last pull iwas at was a 2.5 class so i dunno what there goin to be mostly runnin in my area..... the bd super b special is a 2.5 charger right? would that make a good charger for daily driving/ pullin in the 2.5 class?

I dont remember if the Special is a 65 turbine or a 71. I liked my HTT it wasnt bad on the street.

super b special is a 2.5 charger. it is a 64/71/14 and does really well daily driving. havent pulled with it yet but it should do really well.

VP's can be VERY competitive with the right setup, and right tuneing. But it has to be about dead on tuneing. Basically it can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

But 2yrs ago a VP truck won the 2.6 class at scheid, and there are some very other competitive VP trucks!

But when people start to think that they need more power to compete in this class they simply just ppump the truck, thats really why you dont see to many strong running vp's anymore. But there are going to be a few strong running VP's, just watch!

what are some things i need to look into besides the chips injectors and turbos.....

valve springs, oring and studs then traction bars hitch and weight bracket you will need a good dual disk as far as chip i would just get a used redline then u wont have to mess with trying to get rpms out of a adr, a 66mm and 7x12s would be good for the street but you could run a bigger injector for the track if budget allows maybe look into a cam and pushrods

I would go with the redline over the quad box, but dont use the redline on the street, a 66mm turbo is just fine on the street, a little laggy but i have built several trucks with 66's that still get drove on the street and they do well. If you run the redline or quad adrenaline, deffinelty do valve springs. And with that turbo at least head studs, and think about fire ringing the head. I think for what you are wanting to do a cam would not be worth the money, put it somewhere else. A good twin disk clutch. on the injectors, i would go with 6 hole not 7 hole, they blow the tips off easier, go with a 6x18 or around there. Get a goo injection pump, have had good luck with the schied pump and industrial injection ones. If you take the head off and can afford it do a port and polish job. Get you some traction bars for sure, see if you can run suspension stops, weight bracket ect.. Make a good hitch for it and have fun. Sorry for the book! LOL

how good are just the studs with out o ringing or fire ring?

and what kinda psi are o ringing and fire ringing good for/

I have run trucks with just studs with 66mm turbos with p-pumps, with high timing, and they lasted a while, but if you fire ring one it is a lot more reliable. I am not a fan of the o-ringing, but fire rings with studs will hold whatever you throw at it.
