How consistant is a weight transfer sled?

Thats true, but it still blocks your vision, and can infiltrate the cab. 2 years ago at Dubuque there was about 18 2.6 trucks iirc

.
i think that a 2.6 truck two years ago is a long ways from a 2.6 truck now

Everyone is human and mistakes get made - that doesnt make for a bad sled operator or a bad puller or highjjinx

Over 20 years I have hooked to a total of 6 different sleds, on the same tracks, from year to year.

Depending on track condition, sled gear setting, and wether or not they have a ripper underneath the plate can and does make one heck of a difference.

Drivers make a heck of a difference - those that wag the tail right form the get go, and those who ease it out before getting on it - although with diesels most need to wag it right off the chain to get boost. Depending on your tire and gear some trucks can and do lift the plate taking off, whereas others cant get it done.

Most sleds up here have a red light that goes on if the brakes are touched in any way.

Can a sled operator change the run during the run - not that I am aware of on our sleds - however it would be very easy to make a slight gear change in the cab between runs, on at least two of our sleds, without anyone knowing the difference.

The integrity and pride of our sled operators would never allow for such thoughts as favoritism

I know i have suffered from the brakes being hit - accidentaly - from driver error, and from the track either getting better or going away - which sure makes for frustration watchin another driver get a better run

but then thats why it is a competition right - who does the best in the same place and time?
