Well, folks. I pulled the turbo again to find the bottom puck loser then C.....'s mom.

After a brief conversation with HTT It's going to be a few weeks before parts arrive. The new design will be a combo of the old and new. 3 pivot points and thicker.

So, in the mean time, I got crafty. No pics, the "hack" is to small to see. In a nut shelll I got 2 c clips between the arm and the puck. The pucks are for the most part, stationary. Unless the c-clip melts and/or falls out, and down the exhaust. :)

I know soot will build up and things will stick open, but for a few weeks, couldn't hurt..

I'm dealing with the same issue, my gate's fubar now, I'd like to see some photos's of the fix. New turbo almost has no time on it.

On edit "a few weeks" :bang :bang :bang :bang

Well I'm going to have to come up with a fix here, be pullin pretty soon.

Who-ever has one of those SS housing`s the gate won`t last worth crap, I don`t know if those disks spin or what, but they wear out in no time flat to the point they are just floping loose in there, now I think the arm`s bent, don`t know for sure, won`t seal up at all now.

I guess a external might be the best option for what I`m up to any ways, but it was set up pretty good the way I had it, now if it would just last.

At this point, a quick fix might be to drill a pilot on the other side for a longer shaft, and then with it closed weld the pucks in position.

I'll fix it for you.

So I take it you`ve come across the same issue, with others? Don't know if I want to ship my turbo across the border, don't have a bunch of time to wait on it.

Taking the gate apart isn't a issue for me, got some updated parts?

What kind of egts are you all seeing?

I know I've got 10k on my charger. I haven't seen a reason to pull the waste gate cover.

I also haven't seen over 1250-1300.

I'm guessing the CR guys are seeing a lot more.

I have a 13 SS housing with zero issues. BW must have had a bad batch.
Hope the fix is soon and permenant

Wouldn't a wastegate that's hanging open only effect spool up or are yall saying that the egt's have more time to build higher before the turbo lights so the turbo has to play catch up?

FWIW, my 13ss seems to be doing alright. Got well over 40k on it. Guess I should pull the turbo and pull the plate off and check it just to be sure though.

A lot of the guys me including me, are having issues with them in a coumpound set-up. Which Causes over driving of the bottom charger and loss of spool up. The wastegate is being used a lot more than it would in a single charger application.

Yeah, I would bet its most of the guys running them as a secondary in a compound setup, I know in my data logs, I'll see over 100lbs drive on them like nothing, so I'm not putting down HTT, thats for sure, just need a bit better thats all.

You'll know it when it happens, didn't know this thing could make so much smoke, and a good reminder why I'm runnin twins.

Well, a. Holly Crap. So that's what a charger is like when it spools!!! I've made 50PSI before my "fix" however, this is different.

Folks, if your boost gauges "flutters". You have an issue. I figured it was just a leaky banks hi-ram (have had issues...). I didn't pressure test today, however, my boost say's 50, it sits at 50. not 48-52. I need to turn the dial back a few turns to move the boost back down to 45, where HTT says is "good"

Exhaust sound, less poppy. Smoother. Assuming the fluttery wastegate was causing this.

Spool up is much faster. #5 timing on #2 (tnt/r) is almost smoke free as far as I can tell at night.

I bumped things back to #7, with timing on 3, tm on 2, rail on 2. mp8 off for now.

The folks at HTT are right, this SS housing with 64 wheel will spool just like the PS62. Insane. It's an entire new truck.

Now I'm really itching to get that 66 wheel swapped in.

As for my Fix. I don't have pics of my setup cuz it's in the truck and like I said, the fix is to small to really see.

As I said in the topic, it's temporary, From what I understand things might jam if the pucks are not free to spin and shake things down once soot starts to build up.

I went to the local auto parts store. Got a box of "c-clips" I needed a new one for my bulls eye arm anyways.. Found 2 in the package that would fit on the shaft that joins the pucks to the main gate arm of the "big thick gate". not the one that bends. The gate with just the 2 pucks that are movable.

I placed the c-clip between the puck and the arm. Should be very snug.

What I'm attempting to accomplish with this fix until HTT has their supply in hand, is compensate for the bore for the gate in the housing, since mine appears to be not very true. The bottom puck, when closed by the bulls eye (or any) actuator pulls on an angle in the sleeve and in turn pulls the bottom puck away from the housing. Adding some spacers appears to compensate for the difference.

This might work for a while.

Nice looking work for sure! Could you make them even larger so holes in the
1 1/8 -1 1/4" could be used and still be suff. covered by the pucks? Have you given thought to 1 large oval shaped puck? Ryan
