Hey as ya'll can see in my sig, im running twins on the old 12v i sold em and wanna go bigger, with those i ran 11's and wanna get into the 10's now, some say a single bullseye power s475 .90 housing w/ race cover would get me there (750 hp or so) and others say a 64 & s480, what do ya'll recommend? i dont wanna use this truck for daily driving anymore its gonna be a drag truck, what i was wondering how would the s475 spool at 6000 ft elevation? maybe a shot of nos? im running a 15 blade converter which is loose up to aprox 2000 rpm's..:ft:

s471 .90 would probably be a better turbo for the high elevation.

ht3b is a pretty inefficent charger, 57 or 62/65/14 over s475 would put down more power and probably spool faster

But it did get him into the 11's and has proven to be a reliable power builder.$.02

true, but, a better set of twins will offer better performance

i forgot to mention, if you go w/ the big single id go w/ the s400sx line, your out of the box 71 or 75 that comes with a t6 housing is going to have the larger turbine wheel.

my twins spooled just fine, too well, made 10psi revving it in neutral, they were also very small turbos

i have run 9.70's with a Bullseye Power S475 and 150hp shot. also some 9.60's with S480. both with race covers. i also have a 2100 rpm converter. the S480 will lite in 4 to 5 sec from idle to 20psi.

A 15 blade left cut converter and one of these chargers is a no no unless you have a cam and or head work. If you want a single my suggestion to you is as much stall as you can tolerate. If it's a drag truck though that shouldn't bother you so for simplicity I say single.

p.s. The converter will not stall as high as it did with those twins i'd guess too given you were making more boost from 1600-1900 with those twins than one of the singles you're planning to run. My 15 blade left cut goes to about 1700-1800 than it takes about 20 seconds to get boost to go to 23psi or so at the line and 2000rpms.

So...a .90A/R T4 housing can be had for under $200, putting those chargers in the $1200 range...way cheaper than an S300 out there (other than an S300G)

I should actually have two S471's and .90A/R housings sitting here today...they are not hard to get, and not expensive by any means, so I don't see much downside!

im not sure im following you, im not saying they were expensive or hard to get or that there is any downside. i was just saying to watch out for the s400's with the 88mm turbine wheel, because then you can't get a .90 t4 housing for it.

Oh, boy!! :hehe:

it was an hy35 over 66/71/14, trust me it was real good at making boost down low, spinning the tires, and falling on its face after 2000 rpm.

then the hy35 started blowing oil everywhere LOL LOL LOL

Just a bit of food for thought. Check the following link: Bullseye Power Turbos

Go to the bullet comparing the forcedinductions unit to the bullseye power unit with pics. Check them out. The top right two pictures stuck out most to me although I couldn't tell you what difference would be noticed in performance between these two units and now these cuts on the housing effect things.

I'm not expert at all but there is a reason that some of these chargers are more money than others and out perform others. I'd consider this before expecting 10 second quarters with a $800 charger. just my$.02

Good luck!

Gotcha...I saw the the part about the big turbine wheel, but I didn't think you meant the big one. The S400SX's I have are the 83/74 wheel on the S471's, and 83/77 on the S475.

Sorry about that:D

i've always been pretty happy with my ht3b tho, i made 60 psi with the stock/ht3b at my elevation which is not bad, i have a htt 62/71/14 in my garage that needs a rebuild, this over the s475 .90 would be a better setup?

when would this s471 .90 start spooling at my elevation? a normal 64/65/14 starts around 1800 rpms..

Cam and head is stock still, yea i understand that part cause the hx35 started spooling around 1600 already and brought it up to 2000 in 10 sec or so hitting 21 psi, what my thought was with the s475 to spool it up with some nitrous! But i've never ran such a huge single thats why i wanted to hear everyone's opinion..

S475 with a .90 is too tight for any twins setup, except maybe on a 4BT...if you're worried about spool, go for a 1.10, or 1.15 with a T6 foot.

Oh, and I forgot...the .90 housing is fine if you are using the S475 for a top charger:D

definatly agree, .90 is WAY too small for a primary. I know a few guys running 1.32 t6's with great results, but we are at much lower elevations.

the other upside of the the 1.32 is you can get an s475 ETT turbo for under $600

X2...I'm only at about 1000', the 1.32 spools fine, but that 1.10 IS AWESOME on an RPM limited truck, ie VE or VP:D
