I am looking to upgrade my hydraulic system on my clutch. Was wondering which one yall suggest or if there is any difference in the Southbend and Valair? Also does anyone know if there is much of a price difference in them and which one would you pick? Thanks for any info on this one, I just haven't had time to call to check with the company's.

Thanks again

Southbend's was right about 3 bills IIRC. Really easy to put in...other than that @(*^$&@*(&^%#$(@&@Q)*!@^#!*)!*^$ clip.

Billy? Are you ok? :hehe:

What clip is a biatchch? Anyone have diagrams or installation advice?

Nice thead. Thanks for posting. I need to upgrade and have the exact same question. Anyone on either kit?

The clip that holds the pin in the clutch pedal itself. I did the hydraulics while the truck was on the lift and couldn't open the door all the way, made it much harder than I think it should have been just for lack of access.

My buddy has a val-air upgrade in his, I drove it the other night, and it was good, clutch felt good and all. He had just set it different than stock and was weird to my foot after driving mine, but other than that the pressure and all felt good on it.

Bump to top for more input.

Any pros or cons to each unit?

Pros and cons on each would be nice, I gotta do something to mine, may just run a cable down there to pull on lol.

I got a quote on South Bend for $325 and I can get a Valair one for $250.

So far, that is all I know.

I hope the SBC one hasnt gone up that much. I would get a quote from some of the vendors here. Thanks for reminding me about that dang clip. That SOB!!!!!!!!!

I have never driven a truck with the valair unit, so I cannot comment on theirs. Compared to stock hydraulics on a CON OFE in a 6 spd the upgraded South Bend hydraulics on a 12CB3600 DD is much easier on the leg. I never even tried the factory hydraulics on the DD or the upgraded on the OFE, but I do know that I really like what I have now.

And Peter is only going to quote one price, retail, call around to others who carry SBC and see what you get.

I was looking and the best on a SBC one was 300 so far and 275 for the Valair. But I heard the Valairs were on sale. I just want the best one, and they may be about the same for all I know. I haven't had either yet lol

I'm just wondering if the parts in each kit don't all come from the same manufacturer and packaged differently.

I have some more info on this subject that I'd like to share with you guys that are needing to buy a unit and want to make the right choice the first time like I do. However, I don't want to step on anyones toe or start a crap tossing match on the internet. I firmly now believe the South Bend unit is the superior product. One of the problems a while back was that the master would pull away from the firewall. This is cured by a new bracket that comes with the kit. Another difference is the SB has a continuous braided line from master to slave instead of a partial braided line with a coupler in the middle that converts the lower half to plastic line. Great spot for a leak IMO. These are among the serveral things I discussed with a reliable source and there is more, but like I said, no crap throwing today. I'm at my limit with forums and rules and being told to "support the paying vendors" and yada yada yada on other websites. :D Enjoy the info. PM me for more if you like.

Jory, do you have any idea how hard it is to get banned from here?? LOL LOL

I need all the info on this I can get, gotta make a choice soon, Smokin 09 is coming up, and I don't really want my truck grinding gears at that lol.

Not yet. :hehe:

FWIW, my opinion is to drop the few extra buck on the SB. I have a lowest price on this unit right now for $275 plus shipping. Let me know if you want a PM with the vendor contact. There are still a few others looking also.
