Inputs on smarty

Not suppose to put the smarty on level 9 when u have the comp on...even numbers only. Your double timing when u have it on 9

who are you??????......the smarty police?.....do you have timing graphs showing negative effects of this?

otherwise, there have been numerous people stacking smarty/? with timing in both and had good results.....

It's common fukin sence u don't double time.

Like I said.... do you have any proof or ill effects caused by too much timing in a VP truck?

a superchip and edge box will run like sh!t, but smarty and quad or edge?

Double timing will cause the injector to spray all the time instead of only spraying when the cylinder is goin down. Which when it's spraying when the cylinder is goin back up it will cause diesel to go outside of the bowl which will cause burn on the top of the cylinder, also it can wash the oil off the cylinder wall which will cause scaring which will damage your rings as well. I've done the same thing before an now I've got more blowby then what I should have. I used to run a superchip with my edge. I learned on this very website here about double timing. Use the search an you will see what ppl say about double timing

Can cause the timing event to start too early causing burn outside of the bowl at peak cylinder pressure, not good. Try pulling the superchips off,
if you want more get the hot unlock for edge.

who is running a superchip? as far as I can see it, you are the only one with one of those chitboxes

screwing up programming.... YES.......excessive timing in a vp truck.....I think Not

True.

My point was that even being charitable, his spraying all the time was a load of crap.

Also, spraying out of the bowl isn't always the end of the world.

I only ran the smarty for maybe 3 mins before we took it off. It would explain why it was really smoky and really slow to spool if the guy did put it on 9. I just got to posting this and I tested the smarty in June so knowing me, I forgot what level I saw.

It's generally accepted that on a basically stock truck the Smarty is smoky, that is not new info. Especially since you had it set on kill.

Hang on RafterN...

Spraying on the downstroke? Wrong. Injection is supposed to be as the piston is moving towards TDC...

I didn't catch it either till I re-read it bored at work waiting on someone... I'm sure there will be more garbage spewn...

Who on earth would possibly believe injection is with the piston moving towards BDC?

injectors spray on the intake stroke, so the fuel/air mixes better. makes sense. thanks for the info sir!!
