Is there anyway to adjust kickdown besides the tv cable? If I have the tv cable adjusted out far enough for a decent kickdown, then it develops a 1-2 shift flare under light throttle and a soft 2-3 shift, so I have to adjust the tv cable back down.

I did that once for the tps, how would that effect kickdown?

Lol

It won't, pot is only for 4th gear, and even then it won't kick down into third until mph gets low enough.

I don't know of any way besides fabbing up a custom TV lever. I can't pull the cable any harder and my shifts are still too low. Gonna pull the pan, adjust the shift timing on the VB then fab a lever in a few months.

You'll have to explain to me how to do it with the vb.

Just curious but why/when do you need it to kick down?

Because mine has never kicked down with less than 3/4 throttle, and wont downshift until i slow to 5mph. Really sucks when you're just slowing for a yield and don't stop, then you're trying to take off at 10mph in OD.

Manual VB FTW :)

Definitely in the dually, and someday in the DD.

Have you increased line pressuree on the vb? Takes an allen wrench and dropping the pan. It will firm up shifts, also, will help shift timing....
also add hydraulic oil to increase pressure all around.

Nope. I knew there was a way but didn't actually know how. Where on the vb? How far do you adjust/how many turns? I have hyd fluid, just haven't had time to add it, and don't wanna lose that much brand new fluid LOL

In bigblue24's thread, he had pictures of the screw, on drivers side up in the trans pointing out horizontally.. Moving a square washer in a cage. Loosening equals more pressure iirc. Not that easy to get to. If you have a relatively stock trans you can't overdo it.

Damn, you mean that 3000post thread? LOL. Ill check it out, thanks man.
FTR: trans is built, just always had this issue since it was stock. Never figured it out, even with new vb.

Here's a picture of the pressure screw on the valvebody:

Turn it counter-clockwise for more pressure. As you turn it, the square tab will compress the spring and pre-load it more. The spring controls valvebody line pressure, stock springs gives about 3 psi increase per full 360* turn of the allen head adjuster.

^ Good post as always blue. I see you've used vise-grips a time or two on yours! Haha.

How much do you think I should bump it up? Id like to do it once. 5 turns?
