laminated or billet flexplate?

I run a suncoast as i have already mentioned, and I can see where a problem could occur if the coating was applied too thick to the flexplate. I dont think Triton is trying to put down suncoasts product, but in his case, he had a problem with his. Mine has been great so far. I think he just had a weird problem with his.

I dont think this discussion should be one of brand loyalty although some are making it that way. ANY companys product can have a problem.

I run a suncoast, and i can see where his problem came from if the coating was too thick, and got worn/melted away. I should have my transmission back out within the next 6 months i hope for a complete built Goerend by then. Ill probably check out my flexplate bolts at that time, and throw some loctite on them just to be safe.

Anyways, my point is, he wasnt bashing the product, just speaking of the problems he had with it.

Thanks Eric. You're 100% correct. I have nothing but, respect for Suncoast and especially Jeff Garmon for taking care of the situation on the spot !! I run a ATS plate now but, that's only because ATS was at the event to get a plate from. Had Suncoast been at Indy with parts.... I'd still be running Suncoast.

i know this thread is very old, but i wanted to add to my 2 cents for other people out there, that may come into this situation.

ok, here it goes. I bought a "built transmission" from a guy on this forum (stock transmission, rebuild with all the goodies except billet shafts). Installed the transmission and the nex flexplate i had just purchased. Cranked up, metallic fluid started leaking from bellhousing area. Removed tranny, found that the TC made contact with input seal, damaged seal and pump. Not knowing what was wrong, i figured the seal was damaged during shipping. Long story short, i found out the flywheel is offset wrong or the TC is stacked too deep when it was built. My new flexplate from HOT ROD DIESELS will be here today, and hopefully my problem will be solved. The flexplate i bought is the same one Cummins express has had good luck with, so i thought it would save money and work great. I've since, searched and found others having issues with these plates
