Let's Hear you Water/Meth Experiences

So I'm considering running default Smarty timing with a low mix of meth (maybe 10-15%). I know that the meth can increase timing, but at what percentage? Would I be asking for trouble? I'd like to hear what everyone is running for timing and what percentage of methanol are you all running, either successfully or unsuccessfully. Trying not to break anything, but add some safe power.

Yeah, Just water if your trying to cool it off....it may make a few more ponies...

As for meth, There's a member here and his fathers on I beleive his 4th build due to running meth....He finally talked to Jeff Garmon and had him explain what meth does to a diesel and finally stopped.....Good things from here on out....
 
Well, I thought most of the problems with methanol came about when running close to or more than a 50/50 ratio, and you get a resulting timing bump. I've not heard any problems when running straight washer fluid and a 30/70 w/m ratio.....or have I just not been asking the right questions? It's new to me if such a ratio would cause trouble.??
 
Also im also curious also, thinking about adding some to my 01 2.6 truck!
 
Yeah, I'm thinking about picking up a kit this week. EGTs got a lil toasty this weekend (1500+) surprised me with my primary charger being of a decent size, (480)
 
Dang! What size charger, and injectors, if u don't mind me asking? I'm running ddp 200 horse injectors and 62/71/14 s480 twins.
 
I've never had any problems running water/meth, now you guys have me thinking.
 
what mods have you done to the truck? are your EGTs really that hot?

Mods are in my sig. I don't have a big set of sticks or a CP3, so I really don't get that hot. I originally bought it to use as a bit of a power adder (thought I could get 40 or so hp out of it). Now I really don't know what it's primary function will be I don't really tow. That's why I'm on here asking questions, trying to figure out what I should do with this dang thing now that I have it.

You have different pistons in your engine than the '06 in the the thread starters engine. Don't worry.
Seems the Common Rail engines 04.5+ are the ones that don't like the additional pressure added by the meth.

i am looking to upgrae my water kit. i have a snow stage 1 but even with it maxed out i will pin my guage easily. any other ways that i could cool things down other than water?
 
Thanks again Jeff and Swole. Just put the motor back in swole. Soon as we get some good weather we will put the head and etc on. NO METH just water. Just so you other guys know we were running 50/50. Melted pistons first and second time. Third time took over an hr to clean all the oil off the track and pick up the peices. Truck is an 06.
 
i have had the devil's own kit since october,stage 2 diesel kit with upgraded 220 psi pump.
currently running 4 nozzles for a total of 52 GPH at full boost. no troubles other than i pooped out a freeze plug at too high rpm... cools it down, makes it really go.
running 30% methanol(real methanol, not wiper fluid) and 70% distilled water.
