Let's Hear you Water/Meth Experiences

what does the meth do thats not good for the engine.
were do you get real meth. everyone ive talked to uses windshield washer fluid.
Is there a difference between a water meth kit and just a water kit.
 
i have the stage 2 snows. system.. love it...i mix 3 bottles of heet to ever gallon of wwf. now i am running 4,1/2 bottles of heet to a gallon of wwf...truck loves it... runnen 2 640 nozzeles....been runnen it for 4 mo now.. not a problem..... i just keep an eye on the the tachs...that why i bought them...
 
Egts never went over 1300 when the engine scattered last time. To much timing added with the meth. And it was "real" meth not washer fluid

Same here. Using 50/50 last year and never saw more than 1300 egt. Smoked #5 & 6. Mixed my own so I know it was a true 50/50 mix.
 
Wow makes me wonder what myself and a good friends doing wrong. We have both been running the same water/ meth same nozzles 2 X 625's his is an 03 mine 06 and no prblems from it yet. hes over 750hp and I am nearing 700. I use mine all the time when racing and untl next week have stock headbolts and gasket head has never been off truck. I just try and look for -20 wwf and dump it in its close to 40 or 50% meth.
If I am doing something wrong please let me or us know.
 
Ya dont be scared unless your 04.5 +. Doesnt bother my 98 12v or my cousins 99 24v. We both run 50/50
 
we ran straight methanol all last year pullin with no issues

never heard of issues with meth before

So suppossedly what does meth do - cuz a fuel does not advance timing by itself and i cant beleive it is auto igniting before the diesel as meth doesnt normally auto ignite


Now meth uses two and a half times the oxygen - so maybe the combustion temps are exhorbitant from the diesel burnin without enough air

or?

I am all ears as I was plannin on runnin pure methylhydrate again this year

I believe winter time washer fluid, depending on the manufacturer, has between 10% and 30% methanol. Washer fluid is a tame/safer mix than a home brew true 50/50 mix.

Thats wierd that you smoked 5 and 6, because most of the 50/50 mix related failures I've gathered are smoking the #1 cylinder because it sees more of the mix. 5 and 6 should see the least, so they should be the last to go if the meth is what got em. That makes me think it would be from a lack of a cooling effect on the back side of the motor, and the failure was heat related. Maybe the water had an overall cooling effect seen at the egt probe and was making up the difference for the hotter temps out back?

I think the issue is how quick the fuel burns once it is ignited, not how quick it is to ignite in the beggining. The flame front travels faster throughout the cylinder with meth. My understanding of why diesel is cetane rated instead of octane rated is because cetane rating is a measure of the speed at which the flame burns after ignition, whereas octane is a measure of the point at which the flame ignites under pressure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
 
5 and 6 are always the hottest. 6 is what melted the first two times on ours.
 
i ran meth on my 05.....Snow Stage 2....only ran Snow's "Boost Juice." Crazy Larry with the TST on 2/1 and 2 of the biggest snow jets made for a little timing rattle but never a melt down....and obviously i was running plenty of timing in my programming before meth. Dyno proven 50hp increase. I ran water meth til the jets started looking shady....somehow i had corrosion on them so i immediately took the kit off.

if you want to spray something, spray a small amount of nitrous. it will perform better anyway
 
Buddy of mine with an 06 has sprayed 50/50 to over 800hp with no ill effects so far. He did lose power spraying 50/50 when he did 923hp though. We think the 90psi of boost was overpowering the 220gph pump.

I've got snow's stage 2 kit and running windshield washer fluid with a .375 and a .625 nozzle did nothing for egt's or power, just made the turbo spool quicker.

Has anyone had a meltdown without the timing rattle? I would have thought you'd have blown something running that much timing, especially with the 50/50 mix.

Anyone else have any input on this subject?? I bought stg III kit, didn't upgrade the pump.

Planned on just using wiper fluid.

Could be. Although I did have the timimg turned up on the Smarty at that time as well, so maybe the cumulative timing of the meth/Smarty was the culprit showing a false egt at the probe.

FWIW, when I blew it with nitrous a couple months later, got the 2,3,5 pistons.
