there hasent been a good thread on clutches. what are some good clutch makers, dual disk triple disk, and so on.what the diff between slipper and non sliper. petal no petal. simpily all the cons and pros of all differnt types

I'd go South Bend all the way:rockwoot: Peter's customer service is second to none and I don't think there is a better clutch out there for dual or triple disk.

Uh, have you ever heard of a company called Crower? If this is going to be a sled-pulling only truck, then a Crower style clutch meaning a centrifugal pedal assist clutch would be the best bet. If you are going to be driving it on the street then I don't know, I still like the EEP clutch for all around street driving.

The SB is a good clutch. Not many choices for a Ford. Peter and Mansell have been very good to me. Tom's right, if it's a designated puller go centrifugal.

Dedicated puller, street with a few hooks a year, or just to much power for a single disk? Those are the questions you have to ask yourself.

I am really happy with my SBDD, 3600 lb ceramic plates. Holds great and has not slipped yet.

tom, what does your sig say? i can't read it, too small.

EEP clutch is great clutch, so is south bend. i run a south bend because of price and faster service.

I ran EEP's earlier version of the dual disc years ago, it was great but back then they had some issues with the floater plate craking, I believe that has been resolved for a few years now. I then moved on to the Haisley centrifical dual and just couldn't get used to it leaving the line when the clutch wanted to and not me :) there was nothing wrong with the clutch but the way I drove it and tore it up. I then moved to SBC dual disc Irion Giant II had great sucess with it and later had peter design me the Irion Giant III that is one great clutch and SBC's clutches are ever bit as streetable as anybody elses with the best customer service you could ask for.

And now I am stuck with this 4 disc CROWER thing :)

No, my sig is not too small you just need to back away from your computer and refocus your eyes..............LOL

I had an EEP clutch for a while and I thought it was unbelievably streetable as compared to my buddies 3850 DD South Bend. Nothing against SB but that thing was straight harsh on the street.

Mine's not a full-time puller, but I've been impressed with my Haisley DD. Customer service was great!!!

Good Post!

Here is a question I asked on the other post and hopefully it can get answered...lets hear driving technique and characteristics when sled pulling from the more modified clutches..IE (a truck slipper clutch like a Crower).

I am very close to running a reverser/drop box and rockwells and just need more info on the clutches.

Scott, witch Crower are you using, the glide, or the pedal clutch?

Diesel glide with pedal.

Is anybody actully using a clutch with out a pedal installed? don't we all have a peddal and choose wether to use it or not?

I am not sure how you would get the RPM's up to were you want to launch with out a pedal, mine takes off at at around 3K rpm's when pedal is pushed in and I certainly aint leaving the line at 3K so you push the pedal into to achieve your desired launch RPM's

that is what i am wondering. if the clutch hooks at a certin rpm and u dont have your turbo spooled, forwhat ever reason, what do u do if u dont have a petal

then what happens with a clutch like that if its set at 3000 and the tracks hooks real tight at the end. if it pulls it below 3000 does the it start 2 disingauge
