lets talk clutches

We are forgetting something here, how do you start the truck if you can't push the clutch in before turning the key :hehe:

What I was getting at was if Scott had a Crower glide, which is apparently what he has, or a Crower pedal clutch. the pedal clutch has a lot less weights and allows you to shift at rpms, where the glide has enough weights to overpower the hydrolics.

Got a question, Are the triple disc clutches streetable at all? I heard the SB triple was? Was told it was about like the iron giant? Just curious. Thanks guys

The Iron Giant III had the same pedal pressure as the Iron Giant II, and IMO it could be streeted but that is based on what you call streeteable we all have different idea's as to what is comfortable enough for the street. I never streeted it becuase of other issues i.e. solid suspension, hood stack, major whit smoke etc... but she drove around the pits and on off the trailer just like my Iron Giant II.

Mine has enough wieghts and will easily over power the hydrolics

I have two gears, forward and reverse no shifting :)

For a street'able truck South Bend hands down.....

It is a non-weight clutch that uses the pressure plate to provide clamp load for the clutch discs. It allows for full control over the clutch at any RPM.

Agree, for the street SBC you can't beat Peter's customer service :)

I have driven my Crower around the corner to the trailer in suberbia Cali though :hehe:

I just got my triple back from Peter, he made soem more adjustments to things so it would fit in my zf6 belll housing. Hope to get it in later this week.

I drove my Haisley Competition Dual Disk for few months on the road before I started pulling...I found it very similar to my brothers Haisley Street Puller for pedal feel and the only time it was at all a pain was in the higher RPM's but it was still okay. I love it on the track now and I can hold it to pretty much anywhere I want and its got all the weights on it that came with the clutch.

We run a dual haisley clutch in our truck and it has never gave us any problems. We have pulled every weeknend since beginning of jan or feb!!

anyone wanna talk some more about the crower glides?

Is Scott the only one online much that is running one to discuss it? Seems as if Scott is using his glide clutch a little more like a conventional pedal clutch than something that is automatic with a certain "stahl" speed???

Anyone thought about a Danco or simmilar type clutch?

although I bet it would not be too fun running the throttle with one hand and the Danco with the other!!! brings New meaning to Driver Skill!!!!!

Haisley Comp puller 115 hooks at 1200+hp before being rebuilt in the puller, the tow rig has street puller pulls a 40' trailer with the puller in it has 35-40k of towing miles and 25-30 sled pulls at 535hp and now i put twins on it and its still going strong with being reshimmed only once.

Kennys weighted triple disc, no questions about it! Mine starts to engage right around 3900 and by 4100 its go time!
