Making The Truck Hook Harder

It has blacks in the rear, 1" travel. I think after I get down with teh HG, New Injectors, and studs, I'm gonna get some rear bars and clamp the front springs. looking at the video I'm also thinking I should have held it in 1nd instead of shifting to third and teh back down at the end.

did you have blocks in in that video posted? its sagging way more than an inch.

get the bars set up also...they will help more than you think.

Yeah had the blocks set up for 1"

I know you race and drive on the street but if you can, lift the rear, add some leaf springs to the pack, or an add-a-leaf kit...get the back end up at least 2-3" and then run your stops.

There are also ways around using stops by using extra springs.

Move your hitch forward as far as rules will allow. Either raise your back end, lower your front end, or both. The front tires were just along for the ride after about 1/2 track.

Any thought of straping up teh front axle to keep the front springs from unloading.

I don't know about in leaf-sprung trucks but a few that I know that have limited upward travel on their Duramax trucks have found themselves pogo sticking their way down the track. It gets in a cycle of trying to raise the front end, then the straps (or whatever) limit the travel all of a sudden and the springs compress, then rebound back up to the limiting straps, and so on creating a bounce that otherwise might not be there.

I don't know that the leaf spring trucks would do that but I can see where they might. Guess you never really know until you try though.

Not the best thing, tends to bounce pretty bad. Moving the hitch forward is the best thing and making sure that you get the weight right to the max is the best thing that you can do. Taking the rear bumper off or putting a roll pan on makes it easier to move the hitch forward. Oh, and traction bars are a must if you are running blocks in the rear, it won't last long otherwise.

The bumper was the first thing to get ditched and the hitch is a far foward as our rules allow, I think I got 4" or 5"

your tilt bed.....i know its cool but get rid of it and also while your under there take a torch and cut off every single bracket and piece of metal that dosent need to be there....now take all that BS weight and put it in your front frame rails, core support, fenders, and other places they cant see......
:rules::banned:

Tilt bed is gonna stay for a little while. It is just to nice to have around the house. If I didn't have enough weight to put up front I would ditch it right now. But seeing as how I need to add more weight them I will ever "hide" in the front end I dont think it will hurt, I'll need to add weight to teh bed anyway so why pull it off and then put it right back. If it was a drag truck it would be gone in a heart beet.

Seems to me you could move your hitch forward more if it wasn't on there... Most rules state that the hitch must be the rearmost point on the truck.

I might get another inch or MAYBE 2 out of it but I would have to redo my exhaust and shocks or make a new hitch. hhmmmm
