mod engine cost ?

I have alot in my street puller but are they strokin the crancks or custom blocks ? is it 50,000 + or 25,000.00 ? I realize you have a 12,000.00 pump but what else

TO be competitive you will have 50K in the engine and chargers minimum. I know of a certain powerstroke that has 100K plus in it.

Jer-Rod Motorsports????

Here you are digging into the motor, Jerrod is asking about Pro-Mod chassis setups. What the heck did I miss out on during this Wednesdays weekly beer break at your shop??? Selling both trucks and a new pulling collaboration? My question is, Who's gonna drive....Adam? ...Guess we are gonna need a bigger sticker now..... 6>8

From what I have been finding out about the powerstroke mod, the cummins guys better have something up there sleeve for the next year, or their gonna be behind the old double OT next year.

DOT is doing extrememly well. Why do you think no one talks much about them? Want to give away what they are working on?

50k in an engine is about right, though DOT has alot more than that in his injection system alone. Your looking at 18k for the pump alone, plus another 7-8k for turbos if not more, black work, rotating assembly work, head work, etc. 50k adds up quick with these trucks. Most form start to finsih are in the 120-130k range though I'm still trying to figure out how Erik has more money in his paint job than his engine...

I am going to have a lot tied up in the BBD II Paint job as well this winter, custom work isn't cheap by any means!!!! Not to mention the body it self, it adds up real quick.

I think you can get a complete turn key motor; fuel sys, water sys, and big arse chargers for 50K.

What makes people justify spending this kind of $$? are most of the builders multi-millionairs?

A lot of the trucks evolve, like Haisley's trucks.
Curt's truck evolved from street into a mod puller over the years.
Patti said Rock Hard Ram was slowly being built for 3 years!

Actually Curts current truck started in the superstreet. His old truck was in the street for some time, then it stepped up by having the backup engine for rock hard ram in it for a year.

Minor details Dan.. doesn't changed the fact that it "evolved"..:blahblah1:

LOL get a great finish in Texas and now you got a chip on the shoulder eh?? :)
You should know me by now that I am a detailed oriented person! My wife has another description for it though!

Double OT took about 5 years to evolve if I recollect. Or at least 5 years to save up for it!! Miller used to pull a beige extended cab powerstroke in the 01-02 time frame, then just disappeared then bamo shows up with DOT.

Yeah, I think for alot of us "evolving" into something bigger would be the only way to go. I think of what I have tied into my truck and relise that if I would have known from the start where I was going to go with it I would be almost to the point of having a full blown modified! There are also things that I did to my engine just last year that I am kicking my self for this year and am thinking about tearing it down again.

Currently I figure I have right around 35K into the Engine, Pump, Chargers,Water and everything else that has something to do with the engine

Right now I am also to the point where I think Scott (BBD) was last year around this time knowing it was time to go big time but not wanting to cut up a perfectly good truck to do it! I have ran the #'s alot and can justify keeping the truck but its going to pain me to cut into it...Plus...a tube framed Tilt Body GMC Crew-Cab Dually would be a one and only.

RyanB, just me, but if I had a truck as sharp as yours I would have kept it a badass street truck.. You put a lot of work into the looks of that truck..

But now it is a badass pulling truck that looks awesome! :)

Amen! I'm kicking myself for not going with a billet cam.. My motor is coming out again just for that as I'd rather not risk taking out other stuff in the just because a stupid cam breaks!

I also learned that why buy cheap axles etc.. just do the beefy stuff the first time rather than buying the same part 2-3 times before going with the good stuff.

I can relate to that as well, Garrett. This time I am going all out in the engine dept., rear axle, clutch and not selling myself short anywhere. Truck is down for a while since the factory limited slip let go, so pulling the engine this winter while it is still damage-free and when it all goes back together it will be overkill just about in every area of the truck. :ylsuper:

Joe

BTW, awesome hook @ HRP! :rockwoot:

In my best Mr. Miyagi w/ a Texas accent voice:

Ahh, very wise grasshoppa. The young student now catches flys with chopstick. Now you move on to "wax on wax off" the White 2002 H.O. in Green bay!!

Next we move on to "paint the fence", then maybe seal the deck!!

Congratulations on the nice hook in Houston.

Yeah, Looks like you cheaped out a little like I did!!! I am also looking at a different set of pistons and to lower my compression even more....at the time it was on the street and being up here in Canada it gets cold enough that I didn't want to have to start it with either all the time...now I don't really care... This winter mine is comming out too and hopefully I will be doing this as my brother wants my cam and pistons if they are in good shape for his and the only other thing I am problably doing to the truck for next year is a data logger.

I think I will go drive down to the store and buy some popcorn.... Cant do that with a mod truck...
