mod engine cost ?

Not that it is pulling, but I think the 5000+lb 9.85 second Smith truck would agree with the Non-Sigma statement...I think some people have them due to the whole, "If I am going to spend $40,000 on a motor I might as well spend a few grand more (ok 4-5K) on a Sigma" type deal.

You have no idea what your talking about. Yes you can make 1700 hp with these motors but keep them together for more than one run. 1400-1500hp is a good safe level and i know of a couple mod trucks that are tuned in that area one I was with personally at the dyno.

As far as sigma's it's the best horse power you can bolt on to a truck and it's one less thing you have to worry about the pump will live and make more usable power and take you down the track. I see them every day at work and someone mentioned Billet sigmas no reason for one a truck the cc's of fuel that a stock housing sigma can make is more than enough than a 5.9 will take.

I didn't mean to piss you off, that's just what I have been told from the guys. "How do you like me now" is in the 1400hp range. I know what has gone on with that truck and from what it seems the sigma pump is the way to go. More than one person, not including Dave, said that and though I am still very new to the style of engines they are running it seemed to me, the sigma pump wth the right amount of air would have done it. I got that impression from more than a few people also. Terry Martin went through about a dozen blocks this year trying to tune his engine to the boost levels where it needed to be. Now I maybe wrong with my assumption but that was just what I gathered from a couple pro mod pullers. Like I said I don't want to piss you off, thats just what I got. It seemed the super del pump on "How do you like me now" didn't cut it but then again with different tuning it might have been up there with the rest.

LMS billet block $14.000.00 made the way you want.Starts out with 3000lb chunk of steel.Michened to your spec.

I talked to Dave (how do ya like me now) a little while back for an article I did for diesel power on his mod pulling motor....during most of his pulls he was at about 1300hp, since then he said he found about another 200hp with tuning, bringing him up to about 1500. NOt sure if he sold the truck or what, but I know the wick did get turned up on it.

The truck was sold and major changes have already occurred and hopefully more to come.

Can you show us some results or video of these failures?

I was not at the events, only heard from a few people that were there. Terry was testing some things this year and I guess found what he wanted. He put 20 ft on everyone at Scheid. Everyone thought it was a fluke but then came back the following weekend and put, if i remember right, over 40 ft on everyone. I wish I ran with the NTPA boy more often but thats something I'm hopefully looking into for next year. Maybe hit some of their further west pulls.

Ahh, very wise grasshoppa. The young student now catches flys with chopstick. Now you move on to "wax on wax off" the White 2002 H.O. in Green bay!!

Next we move on to "paint the fence", then maybe seal the deck!!

Congratulations on the nice hook in Houston.

Travis, I know a very cute 2 month old baby I could bring over to visit you and Joy, maybe she could stay for a couple days? LOL :evil

Thanks for the congrats!

The thing with the mod pulling trucks is that almost every part is custom made and there is only a hand full of people that do this kind of work. Advancements are being made almost every day with these trucks and it is very hard to make them any kind of reliable, thats why you see alot of them tuned down to around 1300hp. There is alot of trial and error that goes on that not alot of people see and assume that one truck is better than another and as previously mentioned goodluck keeping the driveline together! As far as "How do you like me now" goes that truck was bought for the purpose of learning how to drive a mod truck. Dont get me wrong the truck runs good but it is not at the same level as Terry, Erik, Ben etc etc and Cory will be the first to admit it. These trucks cost alot but you also have to realize these guys have been pulling for a long time.

Honestly if you have to ask how much it cost dont do it. ur looking about 130,000 to get it to the sled for the first hook thats not counting splitting a block. which i guarantee you will. We have done Prostock tractors on the NTPA circuit for 10 yrs and know what it takes to have a competitive truck, so there go's ur theory on schieds and haisley no disrespect to them if it wasnt for them there wouldnt be this class they broaden it, but the guys i enjoy seeing and even though i have one im still a fan is Eric Stacey and Ben Miller there not afraid of doing something different and thats no disrespect to any other mod pullers were all very close and like a family not to many people realize that. Were all fans of the sport any though we do it and yes we all want to win but we all look out for each other. I just hope we can all get on the same circuit and run together it will be best for the sport to see us all together.
