Im not starting this thread for this Montser Pump to get bashed. I have serious questions for those who are running the pump or know of some one that is running one. I would like to know how is the reliabilty of these pumps. Are they good for awhile or are many ppl having failure with them? Also is anyone running it on the street. I know not a very streetable pump but when put to the test of running on the road will they perform decent. Iplan on taking my truck out on weekends that is it. I dont want it dying on the side of the road due to the pump pooping out. I would also like to know how they idle with oversized lines and connectors. Anyother input is greatly apprecitated. I would just like truthful information not just ppl ripping apart the mystery pump
Thank you

here is vid of a buddy of mine
i know the guy who made the pump on the truck in this vid and i can also get them. pm for price
the only problem i know greg had was when he first got it he had a clearance issue with i believe i was told a cam ring and locked up the pump took it to the guy that built it he replaced everything still works great today been on there for a year almost its first hook was at the dekalb super pull last yr
it lopes like crazy and greg did drive this truck daily for a few months till he could get a daily driver beater
pump fuels hard with or with out the redline

i have a stage 2 on my truck and love it, it lopes alot and it is my daily driver, get about 14 -16 mpg in town and 18 -20 on the highway, i have had it for over 8 months with no problems at all and over 25,000 miles.

what size lines and connestors are you running? I want to build it for pulling... and dyno numbers.

ya

What does a stage 2-3 pump cost??? I heard $2500-$2800

not worth it...when someone makes some decent power with one...reliable or not it will be worth it.

I would like to stay with a VP just because of the challenge. In all understanding see that it is expensive but they are having a better rep then the other aftermarket VPs out there right now as for power.

the one in the video above made 498hp "no electronics"

i made 470hp "no electronics" with a pump a HRVP44...$1000 for 18hp...no thanks

I spoke with Darren Smith over a few beers this past weekend. While being a good puller and not divulging too many of the pump's secrets, I managed to get a good bit of info out of him. He basically told me he has fuel, but still cant twist it like a 12v.

the pump and vid i listed is the same pump from the same guy darren got his from

i think if someone would dyno a SO pump and a stage 2 back to back and show the numbers i think this could really fly

i got mine from gus and dynoed my truck on a super flow 800, while leaking about half a quart of oil onto the floor i made 405 hp an 1035 ft lbs, the head gasket was on its last breath (hence the oil leaking everywhere), and blew out not even 10 miles from the dyno, and my turbo is waaay under sized for the fuel i had goign into it (bd super b) but i thought it did pretty good considering the situation i had the redline and edge ez on at this time but redline wasent set on kill.

This makes me want to rush right out and buy one this week.

I've seen RPA's truck run a couple of times with his stage II monster pump and it was a big jump from his HRVP he ran before. I think the limiting factor for the monster pump is getting enough air to burn the fuel they can provide, it's going to take a fair amount of head work to see just what the monster pumps are capable.

I agree i watched that truck run a few times and he was way overfueled.

The issue for the monster in sled pulling is the rpm. For Drag racers it is probably fine. If you get your gearing just right, the dynamic timing of the VP44 should extend your torque range which could help to offset the penalty for not having the big RPM. I have seen several occasions where the lack of RPM hurt a truck. Darrens was one of them. With the gear selection that he had his truck is wicked on a 290' track, but a 315' track he doesn't have the RPM and can't get drive without just snuffing the charger. I would think unless the manual guys have a wicked clutch to allow them to get the high gear, it could be an issue for them also.
