More RPM'S??

How can 2 wires on the TPS control the whole ECM ?? it gives codes cause it throws it so far out of wack . If he can do that with 2 wires then cummins would b buying the ECMs from him

carchris how about you run both and post your results? yes, no,,,, maybe?

I will pay for the dyno time and a nice tip $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Bob, How are these two things remotely related? Members on here were having a genuine discussion about your product, how it does or doesnt effect certain tuning aspects, not bashing it as far as I can see, and you choose to not chime in about it. Rather as a site sponsor and Smarty guru you now bypass the topic once again and offer to pay me to run a Smarty, and a Redline and post some graphs for you. A) That should be your job to have this information and show it to back your product ....B) You should also know neither will work with my P-pump.

exactly...the VP44's are a thing of the past for everyone except the monster pump builder and quadzilla. all the guys that rushed out to drop 7 bills on this new and awesome updatable ECM programmer got the shaft and have pretty much a fancy superchips tuner.

Ummmmmmm....Ok....So much for an answer or even some input about the timing and RPM conversation going on in this thread....sorry guys....Must be he doesnt know, because it would suck to be a hard earned money spending consumer that just bought a product from them and realize thats all your getting for support.

Realize it...you got a $700 vehicle specific code scanner.

Not anymore....and for the guy who has it now it will do everything he would want. Just because I sold it doesnt mean I dont feel for the people who cant get help.

Marco is working on the vp44 revo software. I will make sure you are are the beta tester list :poke:

OK, let me chime in here. I am not doing this to step on toes, I am doing this so that everyone knows what is going on.

First and foremost realize that there are 2 computers to deal with 1.) ECM 2.) Controllor on top of the VP44.

This is the problem for the VP44 trucks, if there was a way to reprogram or modify the VP44 controller then we would not be having this discussion but, it is not a flashable controller, never has been and never will be. That is the bottle neck and there are only a couple of ways around it.

Now,I could possibly see how the Smarty could get 4K rpms but, I think it is going to be hard and I think the power will fall fast. Who knows though, it is possible Marco figured something tricky out?

I can get to 4K rpms but, if you do not have the right setup for it then it is useless. If you do not have the fuel for it then you will not even get 4K to start with, even with the Redline. A stock truck will not go 4K, there is not enough fuel supply through stock injectors to supply enough fuel at those rpms to override the rev limiter.

Here is how this work. When you reach the rev limiter the vp44 controller shuts off the fueling parameters and goes into a static "safe" timing mode, sort of like a limp mode. I do not care what you program it to or override, the VP44 will only do this regardless of anything. This is the same type logic that keeps us from getting more than about 65hp from the VP. It does not care and when it is in these safe modes it is going to limit it without regard to anything else.

I can command anything I want from the VP on the BUS and at the rev limiter it does not matter period.

The Redline does not ignore the ECM. In fact the Redline has no idea what the ECM is asking for as it is not plugged into anything to gain this information. I have talked to Chip Fisher and he is a super guy and obviously knows these trucks, there is no doubt but, even he will tell you he is not ignoring the ECM.

So, to answer some questions. There is no way the Smarty is going to alter timing in any way, shape or form once factory limits are reached. The VP will not allow it.

The Redline is not ignoring anything, it is just doing things so far out of parameter without any say so on the BUS that it throws a gillion lights. There is no way around this with the connections that they have on the Redline, that is just the way it goes.

I personally see no advantage to more revs except in the most extreme cases of the Pro pulling trucks. If you need 1000hp and over 4K rpms then you need a p-pump and a lot more.

I will keep working with guys on the 4K stuff but, it is really pretty pointless in my opinion and what works well on one truck might not work as well on another due to supporting mods needed. We are in a more unique situation than the Smarty or the Redline because we have the hardware to manipulate the Bus stuff more like the Smarty and the pump solenoid itself more like the Redline. Because of this I am not getting the CEL right now at 4K but, I am not sure I am getting 100% of the trucks to 4K.

It is pretty tough to work on because I released a tune that would go to 4K and only about 4 people reported even trying it and they all got to 4K. With that few of people actually giving feedback it is hard to start making changes.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks for the info, but why would Chip Fisher lie to me as a customer (and any other redline owner out there) when he gains nothing by doing so?

Quad I commend you for still working on the vp44 stuff and actually making an effort to inform your customers, the other guys ignore their customers and when they get pissed off all we hear is "We are working on it right now" or "You will see some great stuff really soon" but 6 months later, we still haven't seen anything but the same excuses.

If I was gonna stick with the vp44 I'd give the ADR and Pulse a whirl, but I have made my mind up to go mechanical.

I have seen 4k to 4200 coming up an on ramp to the Interstate a few times, 4200 in 5th gear is about 100mph, but its like Quad said, it way over the powerband, it would take lots of fuel, air and cam to take advantage of that rpm, when hooked to the sled w/smarty ,drag comp, M6's and 66 turbo, it will not hold that rpm, but I have also out pulled and came within inches of trucks that are redline boxed, so there are a lot of variables to take into consideration when this rpm is achieved and obtained

last year with smarty, TST, DDP 200 and 250hp sticks, and a silver bullet 66 i could hold 3700+ down the track with no smoke which means it wasnt fueling very hard

With my TST Comp/EZ, 60 HP sticks and HX40 I held 3500 all the way to the end of the track too...but my tires needed more tread to make use of it, :hehe:

Hopefully my Adrenaline can do atleast that (fingers crossed)

I don't think Chip lied to you. He is technically ignoring the ECM because he is not connected to it. There is a difference in ignoring something and not having the info at hand to ignore to start with.

Hopefully my Adrenaline can do atleast that (fingers crossed)

It will do more than 3500 easy on the regular tuning. Just realize that above 3500 you are not going to make any real power. You will get a little but more wheel speed but, that is it.

Now, you get enough additional power to pull in a higher gear???
