Very nice.

I know you hoped to be around 5,000 lbs race weight. How close to race weight is this?

are you and fuel included in that weight?

It was 4507 with me in it, and it still needs windows and both passenger side axle shafts installed. I expect it to be around 4600lbs at race weight. Right now I’d like to stay at 4500lbs so I can run a 476 in the Pro Limited class if we keep having that class this year.

There is still a decent amount of weight that can be lost, I plan to go to fiberglass body panels once I can afford it. Maybe a brake/hub upgrade in the front and a 9” in the rear. I would think all that would put it around 4000k lbs which would be really awesome.

Brakes are getting close to being plumbed in and exhaust is coming along. I hope to be able to drive it in and out of the garage this week.

I finish welded the exhaust, built the shifter mount, and got all that welded in and installed. I should have all the brake parts I need by Friday.

Man this think is turning out slick !! Can’t wait to see it make some passes , great work !

Wrapped the exhaust and installed the rear calipers last night. Not much, but I decided to watch a movie with the fam... haven’t really spent any time with them in a couple weeks. Smh

Sam says the shocks should be here this week! That would be great.

I suggest putting some kind of brace/ tube between the front axle brackets. They can flex side to side a good amount without them

The lower coil-over bracket and limit strap bracket should add a lot of strength to the front four link mounts. In my mind the track bar will take all the side to side movement force, you think it would still need a gusset for side to side? It would be nice for tieing down in the trailer, I have considered it just didnt think it would be necessary.

I am talking about tieing both brackets together. Mine is similar and did have flex till I put 3/4 tube between the brackets in 2-3 places. The one with the trac bar could visually see flex at one point. Also what’s the reason for limiting straps. I suggest against them. Sams coil over should be perfect without them

A brace, kind of like a "shock tower brace" commonly seen over the engine of many performance cars, that is tied to the link brackets on the axle and goes up & over the engine?? That sure doesn't look too easy to accomplish in this case. You have, and willing to share, a pic of yours?

It makes no bearing to me. I'm just genuinely curious and intrigued by yalls conversation and suggestions. Really appreciate and enjoy the openness you two racers are exhibiting here. :Cheer:

What kind of weight savings did you see by switching to a lexan windshield? I'm thinking of doing one and seeing if its worth it at the moment.

Also, is it just a flat sheet? If so how did you get it to bend correctly and look all but factory?

Im pretty sure he is talking about a short piece of tube welded from the side of the four link bracket to the axle tube. Thats what these forums are supposed to be about, hopefully inspire others to come racing. I know I read through Lavon and JP Liberts build threads like a crazy ex girlfriend. lol

Just the windshield was probably 10lbs, not a whole lot honestly. Its pretty expensive too, the sheet for the windshield was $280, so all together I spent about $500 to lose around 20lbs.

It was a flat sheet of 3/16" poly carbonate with a mild tint, it flexes really easily and almost falls into place. I use 1/8" with a heavier tint on the side and rear windows. Once I paint the cab and doors I will mount all the windows.
