Run it like your gonna use it, that's what I was told when I asked the same question. So I just fired mine up took it to 1800 for 20 minutes, changed the oil, retorqued the head and hit the sled pulling track. Hasn't failed me yet and runs very strong. These engines are capable of full load right off the factory assembly line, pretty much no break-in required, just run 'em hard.
