New Hood Pics

more info on this hood PLEASE!!! website/ price
the hood is coming from JTS Venom Performance 704-214-7849,Tony. $700 for the hood without the screen inserts and $725.00 with them in.

HOW MUCH body work was needed? (cost for body work)
from what Tony told me not much, the area that needs some sanding is the front lip of the hood where the grille bolts on. they had to make that area thicker so the bolts and nuts will not crack the fiberglass.

Here is a flat black SRT-10 hood and 2007 Baja Dodge as a example for you. I will try getting pictures of the new hood on the Viper.

I just meant that rad non-functional scoop and the sweet louvers breaking up the air movement over the hood
LOL, i guess the engineers who designed the ACR and the SRT10 viper hoods must not have been thinking when they put the hood scoop and louvers on those hoods.

I'm guessing the scoop probably feeds a filter box and the louvers probably relieve underhood pressure...

meanwhile, I'm guessing your dodge ram differs ever so slightly from a viper and that you don't have a filter box being fed by the hood scoop and the louvers are just for looks.

I have to assume you're hurting C/D with that hood...

well the scoop in the front of the hood is going to feed air into a enclosed filter box and the louvers on the side relieve some of the under hood temps. yeah my truck may not be a Viper but i seriously doubt that the hood is going to be breaking up the air flow so much that it will slow the truck down.

if you're feeing a sealed box w/ the scoop, you're probably helping the truck then :)

but most guys who put an aftermarket hood on are just ricers

yeah, here is the CAI i am going to run, it is from Volant and it is for the SRT10 Ram, i will have to modify it but it should work.

on the bottom of the box i am thinking about sealing up the side and front square openings. i think it will work out pretty good, i like the idea of drawing fresh air from the hood and not the fender

That hood's a bit much for my taste appearance wise but if you like it roll with it:)

It's possible it may help more than hurt due to relieving pressure build up of air rushing in through the grill and from under the truck but i'm not for certain.

I remember the first time I saw the reverse opening hoods on c5 corvettes I was like what the hell is that? After talking to a few i'd trust who used them it made sense they were there to relieve the pressure coming in forcing up on the hood at high speeds.

i actually kinda like it. might not look bad on my megacab dually...hell everything is out of proportion! but issue #1 the vents....as hot as egts get, who wouldnt want more airflow OUT of the engine bay?
#2 the scoop...making that srt10 airbox work is certainly a good idea.

forrest, we race 8000lb bricks here lol i get what your saying though

i should have one on the way shortly-

i really like the side vents- the twins hold a good amount of heat under the hood after the truck is shut off

I like it, just not $700 like it... As far as airflow, our mirrors have way more drag than that hood. Then you go a flip them out and...

if i can get a t top kit with that hood i want one!

o and a pair of hight top nike's

alot of research actually went into the hood, alot more than jsut for looks,

first we had help from a designer that worked on a porsche race team and devloped there body work, the lip under the vents (which by the way are directly from a acr viper) were designed to cause suction to remove the air after it has entered thru the main scoop, we also did alot of testing with the cowl area, bringing it back towards the windshield to keep the air flowing over the top of the truck as not to impead top end power,
about two years worth of development went into the hood, its stable at speed, drops under hood temps on gas engines about 20 degrees, and is built very very heavy duty, not a hood developed for ricers , but serious power houses, started out because I needed to relive some heat from the twin turbos on my personal viper truck.
thanks for all th kudos guys, I hope both that have purchased will be very happy, :tree:
