So whats the difference between 15w40 and 5w40? i just bought Vavoline Blue 15w40 and am doing my oil chance in the morning before i drive from San Diego to Seattle

5w isn't as thick and is a little better in colder climates.

5w is much thinner at ambient, and far better in colder climates. That said, I would run nothing but 5w40 in a 6.0L like Lreiff said too. I run 0w40 in my diesels in winter. winter is harsh where I work though.
