this is going to sound like a stupid noob question, but i cant figure this out at the moment

my setup
5 speed

AD 165
5x.016
.024 dv's

215 p pump

afc full forward, pre boost about maxed out, afc spring loose

t4 manifold, 63/68/.88 undivided housing, no wastegate

i cant make more than 10 psi......and im not getting any smoke, i even lugged it and still nothing, these afc setting would have blacked out the sun with my old setup

this same setup lit my 62/475 twins good and fast

is the exhaust housing on this turbo just too big and open and needs high rpms to make boost?

i know many people are running 63's and they sound like they light up comparable to a 62mm

timing is good

could my govenor springs need another click? wouldnt any gov spring even set loose still fuel down low?

fuel arm is going all the way up

only possibility i havent ruled out is a boost leak

Boost leak?
Fuel pressure?

Run smooth? Idle ok?

That charger should light yesterday;)

Chris

freed up the afc arm, it wil in a bind or from sitting the oil had it stuck, got that a moving freely

still no luck......

Sounds like your problem is in fuel delivery with such little smoke.

Triple check AFC with shop air, does it slide to max every time?

Check fuel psi with another gauge.

Check boost line to AFC.

Check shut off solenoid.

The .88 undivided housing is known to be a pig on those but should obviously lite eventually and smoke if your fuel delivery was on par.

well the 1/4 pipe plug i left out of the intake horn was a problem :doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:

but unfortunately that didnt fix the problem hahaha

now i can get 20 psi if i mash the throttle from a dead stop, it hits really hard and by the time it hits im out of rpms.....i should be leaving a nuclear bomb size cloud behind me doing this.....just a big cloud of haze

it makes no boost on the gauge at all until it snaps to 20

this afc cant be tuned that far out

im sounding really dumb and im baffled

is this .88 really that much of a pig?

Is the fuel solenoid pulling all the way up? Had that prob once on my 12v and had similar symptoms

yup just checked adjustment, its correct

i gotta toss the afc and see if it runs, its got me pretty baffled, i thought i knew this thing inside and out

the thing is i never touched the pump between my last setup and this setup, all i did was switch turbos

Is the .88 housing "correct" for the 68 wheel? Not something from a 71 or 74 wheel that got stuck on there?

I'm pretty good at charger stuff, but have not messed with the 68 wheel at all, so not familiar with housing options.
Chris

no plate in my pump

could be hanging on the afc arm, but it didnt do that with my twins, and i never touched pump

tomorrow is another day, boost leak testing and the afc arm is gonna get lost

Is the truck even getting rack travel? Pop the rack plug off and see. Is the fuel shut off sucking up all the way?

no exhaust leaks at all

lol, dude it just took me like 30 seconds to type that reply, i got mesmerized by your sig lmao

With nothing but a Turbo change you've got two options.
A) the afc control hose is leaking, broke, etc.
B) the .88 turbine housing is a pig

My money goes to B!

If it were B, wouldn't it smoke like a freight train?
