Pro Street 1/2 Ton Suspension Conversion

Thank you Jeff!

That along with the oem upper and spindle gives you 3'' drop?
Yes- but I used gasser coils and they def. squatted more than the diesel coils so realistically I believe I gained more than a 3" drop. :rockwoot:

The transmission crossmember is too close to the ground for my likings. I will remove it and fab up a new one with lower profile and less weight.....

Good deal, and thank you.

The pic I have posted, the 12valve is in it. It is also setting on the V6 gasser coils. So I think the drop will be perfect. :rockwoot:

I was thinking of the V-6 springs but thought it might want to wander around at the top end, so I went with the V-8's. I hope these work out, if not I will try cutting down the diesel springs or go the custom route.

I do get some good movement from the front end now which will help greatly upon launch, so I am hoping I am on the right track.:Cheer:

I am also concerned with the springs, but I am also surprised with the ride hieght right now. But this truck has not been driven yet.

looks great , like the ARP wheel stud kits .

Thanks Greg! I know she looks funky with the multi colored panels and bare metal, but she will get the smoothing treatment soon enough. Been raining here on the weekends and I am waiting for a clear weekend.

There is nothing wrong with multi colored panels, it's character.

I can see that LMFAO :hehe: :hehe:

I breezed through the link you posted- looking good.

As a side note this street scene fiberglass front bumper cover is the lightest thing going as far as bumpers are concerned- all told- I bet with the brackets (aluminum) and the cover itself(fiberglass) I bet it weights under 10lbs compared to the 40 or so lbs with the factory sport set-up.$.02

Not criticizing your direction in the least- I am just throwing it out there- I dunno how concerned you are about weight.......

Just food for thought.:rockwoot:

:Cheer:

I'm gonna give the v6 springs a shot...after setting the Cummins, tranny, cab, and 5 people on the frame, it still only settled about 1.5"

Weight will come into play at some point. So thanks for the heads up!
The 1st thing is just getting this thing rolling, cage installed, then the interior. Once that is complete, then to the engine and trans.

What cage did you end up getting?

I picked up an S&W full cage with options. I have the rear hoop in and have been putting this truck on a major diet. I also made sure that this diet was benificial- for instance I cut the cowl out from end to end yet left some there to cradle the wiper motor which is very much still functional- yet I can lift the head right off the motor without any trouble now, not that there was trouble with the cowl being there but it def. speeds up the job. plus the weight loss.$.02

I know some just want to build up the motor and run em, I like to do these extra steps because -

I don't give a fawk what people think and as Ricky Bobby would say "I wanna go fast" :hehe:

So this bastage is stripped.:evil And with each thrash session she sheds more- a little here, a little there it all adds up.

Besides I like the real estate I created for the air :ft::ft:support :

Yeah that's right....... you have a lil project going too.:evil Let's see it!:poke: Remember the guy who drove to the other side of his state and picked up a trans for somebody who purchased it on line......:hehe:

Antie up some pics:rockwoot::woohoo:

We started to go moly (we have a Pro Bender and Tig) but with the weight of the truck, it wouldn't certify.
Then we looked at the complete S&W kit, including chassis, but I just don't have the coin right now to complete that project.
So having to go mild steel, the S&W cage is the way to go, both dollars and time.
We have looked at removing the cowl, and also replacing the windshield (now there is some weight savings) but we will see once we get to that end of the truck.

That's funny, I too have an air/hyd bender and tig yet for cost and the timeframe spent- the S&W seemed like the hot ticket. I also got the funny car option for the driver yet I'll probably hold off on it's installation, I wanna get the cage in and sort out the chassis work first.

RD: What size front tires are those? will they clear the stock brake calipers on 15" wheels?

Looks very nice. Is there any reason when they machined the new bolt pattern in the hub they didn't center it inbetween the old bolt pattern? Just curious if maybe the hub wouldn't allow it or something strange.
