Pull vids Smithon Pa 9/8 2nd place

Adam

I had some thoughts.

1) Did you ever fix the injector that Dan patched together? If so did you replace the seal and O-ring?

2) You bought headstuds off Compy right? Did install heat cycle and retorque? Please tell me you did not use the Michigan over tighten once method. Pull the valve covers check the torque. You may have just blown a gasket or have a broken stud.

Some how your bottomend became pressurized. But the more I think about it the more I doubt a failed piston or ring.

You can pop the glow plugs out and do compression through there.

John on the studs, they weren't retorqued, but weren't overtorqued on installation either. I was told that they would be fine? The injector never leaked again after Dan fiddled with it so I didn't bother to replace it. I have been carrying one of Bill's spares around with me though since then just in case it started leaking again.

If begining to think either lifted injector or blown head gasket. If you did not follow my train of thought.

Leaning toward a gasket right now.

Darn Skippy!:hehe:

I am still agreeing with Kevin. The symptoms are wrong for cracked piston.

It did push a little oil out of the fill cap way back in July at Butler, just thought it was a one time odd event?

Also it hasn't used any coolant all season?

The coolant thing is what has me kinda not looking at it being a headgasket.

Did you find the oil cap??? You came in late. Did you run hard to get there?

Hey Adam. I have a bore scope if you want to use it. I'm pretty sure you wont see a bad piston.

I didn't run hard to get there Kevin, I never do run it hard on the street. The oil cap is still MIA. I'm willing to bet if I crawled under it I might find it on the crossmember (you wouldn't believe how many lost tools I find there!). Like I said earlier though it still pisses me off just looking at it.

Jeff I'll let you know on the bore scope, my friend that has the "garagemahall" that is nice to work in had a stroke last week so I hate to bother asking him about using his shop at this time. I know it won't be a problem as I have my own set of keys for it, but I always ask to make sure it's alright.

I popped my head gasket after installing orings/studs. I even retorqued the studs twice after the install & it still popped it. Very important to retorque.

Pops pulled the filter off and cut it apart this afternoon, we didn't see anything major, no big chunks, or anything major dead giveaway. Oil smells fine as well no coolant or fuel in it. I'm thinking next step is pop the glow plugs out and borrow your bore scope Jeff.

:hehe: I'd be careful about loaning that to Adam...He might use it on his next date..

What? Your kidding? Jon had a stroke! That is horrible!

I ran ran to Jon at the Mercer Pull.
I figured out it was not him then.

Still sitting in the driveway, haven't touched it yet. Curiousity is starting to get the best of me though, it would be nice to see what is there to work with.

If it is because you don't have a garage....I have a open bay with engine crane sitting in East Millsboro.
