Yes, 72K will build a very stout Mod truck. It is almost more expensive to take a stock truck, do all the trial and error r+d, and make it competitive. Especially in the world of the D-max....there are very few options out there, so everything is insanely priced, at least for now.

Problem with this truck is hit had a huge original investment. It is an 06 DMAX which probably booked for $42k at least.

wrecked trucks are so much cheaper to build, find a rollover with a good frame and piece a body together and you got a 9-10k truck to hack up and modify than a 40K+ truck to hack up and modify.....just remember, paint dont pull......

Mod truck?

First off...it is my truck and we are negotiating with a few people right now who want to buy it. The truck is completly new from engine, transmission, rear ends, all powdercoating. That price unfortunatly is substantially less than what is in it. The motor would cost $40,000 (with fuel system) to build complete and the truck would bring 35-38K$ in stock form so everything else is free. I think there is over $2000 in plasma coating on the exhaust housings and other parts. After a full run on the dyno, you can touch the insulation on the firewall and it isn't even warm. We dynoed it this weekend and it is very impressive but the track time is needed to fine tune it. This isn't a hacked up stick welded truck! Everything is built and designed to last, and still be a dailey driver if needed. I know it's alot of money but trust me...it's cheap compared to what is actually in it.

As far as a mod truck, we have a list and to do everything right with a tube chassis and billet cylinder heads, paint, complete body is going to take between 150-200K. That is using a Barker chassis. It will take between 50-70K to do the engine and make it live. I have all the bugs worked out of the LMM and I would like to build a new truck but I can't afford 2 of them at this point.

Billet heads on a mod truck eh? Do the cummins guys run billet heads on theirs?

My point is that when you start with a $45K plus truck, it is much easier to have $50K in it than when you start with a $10K truck.

The LMM will be a twin turbo truck to get the fuel system figured out before making the next step. PPE has the twins on a truck right now and they are gathering data instead of us rebuilding our current truck.

Fortunatly this is not something I have to sell but I would like to see someone get the truck who will take care of it. I think the first pull on the new set up will be at Eaton (Indoors) but I'm hoping to test it before then. A new combination can be a PITA sometimes for the first few pulls.

It's all in your frame of reference. The Chinese engineers I work with think what I do with my low-budget deal is insane. One of 'em even said "this is kinda a rich person's game, huh?"

Funny, I sure don't *feel* rich!

But their spare time amounts to sitting in front of a plasma TV. Egad.

$72k is above the median national annual income, for sure.

I can't disagree that starting with a 10K truck will lessen the cost but you still end up with a 60K truck when your done and some people are trying that. Who ever gets it will NOT be disappointed in the quality or the performance of the truck. It can also be stepped up to the 3.0 class very easily.

As far as pictures, I can post the truck pictures but I won't post any underhood pictures just yet. It will be on display at the Danville Dyno event and after that I will post pictures on the Racing Junk thread as well as here.

Rick, that truck is badass. I enjoyed butchering the hell out of your(last) name at all the races/pulls I called this year as well. LOL I promise I have it figured out now LOL

Dyno Event!

The truck will be on display at the March 8th and 9th Danville Dyno event.

Thanks for the complements on the truck and I do realize it is a lot of money but if actually look at the details on it, it's pretty cheap.

X2, you don't even want to know how much R&D Labor we have in that truck, if I could come up with the money I would have already had this truck in my garage at home. I am wanting to see the day when another LBZ will get to the level that we have this at.

Well it is worth what someone is willing to pay.
I had mine for sale and lots of calls from tire kickers who just want to know what was done to the truck. You would be amazed at how many people say, "I want to build it myself, I think it will be cheaper" I just laughed.
I had mine priced for an amount that didn't even include all of the parts prices, a very low estimate on the truck, and no serious lookers.
