Pulling tires

I wouldn't go with MT/R's on missouri tracks, I went from MT/R's to STS's and gained between 5-10ft. I have BFG's on my new truck but for some reason I still think the STS's hook harder. Kevin you really think BFG's are the ticket for Missouri tracks?

Torrie i used to be like you and kevin and think the sts's were the way to go but i was pretty impressed with my bfg's and goin with them all the way around this year. For missouri i think there ideal

I think its hard to find a tire that works everywhere. I have seen AT's, MT's, and STS's swap spots every week, with the same gearing, the only difference being tires, track, and slight suspension differences. I think for the most part tires are over rated, as long as they aren't bald, or a highway tread, I think you will be fine.

I run Cooper discoverer ST tires. Surprised nobody has mentioned the mastercraft courser CTs...they are an excellent tire and are quite popular around my area.

If you could really read a track you would need 4 different sets of tires. Whatever you go with will be perfect on some tracks and second place on others.

Readin' a track is that like readin' a book? LOL

I wish I could read tracks better. Gary I would love some tips from you I know you been around a few days.

There's folks much better than I am, about the time I think I've got it figured out I'll screw up so bad it's pathetic!!!!!!!

The only difference i noticed between the 2 is the sharp edges wear down quicker on the sts'. My truck hooked up a lot better this year when i ran 6 bfgs, but i also did a lot of chassis work.

I really dont think it makes a **** differance as long as the tire has a good leading edge and sipping. I personally ran mastercraft courser ct, although I may try the duratrac this year.

Running with the top dogs 2.6 and higher is gonna change your traction needs quite a bit though. Putting 800 to 1000 hp to a set of good tires that have been mentioned vs. running somethin else will tell a diff story.

does anyone use a tire rerounder to sharpen there tires? seen one guy on a gas site that bought one. They are used to reround a flat spotted tire but you can also take the tread down to create a sharp leading edge again. Didn't know if that would be worth doing a few times or how many times it would take before the tire loses too much tread and siping.

From what i have seen on the tracks here in NY, the S/Ts dig a little to hard. They seem to do well for the stock gas guys, but dig a little to hard on the diesels.

I run Cooper Zeon LTZs in 305/50/20, they worked great on a lot of different tracks here, but i lost some footage on the loose tracks the second season as my rears were on the thin side. Im getting a set of STS in 33x12.5x20, im gonna bounce back and forth between the STS and my Zeons depending on the track and see how this season goes.
