Pulling with no air filter

way the tech is here, right before you pull its a pita to get a air shut off and filter back on in time

some things just arent worth risking it......all it will take is one small rock off that tire and the engine is done......

shoo, my turbo is so badass it eats sand and chits out glass. Ain't no p*$%^ for a huffer under my hood, son!! :ft: :rockwoot:

:hehe: LOL :hehe: It had to be said. :shake:

I think it depends on where you pull, and the conditions you pull in.. we've been in some places where they have not taken care of the track, and you couldn't see the truck/tractor going down the track because of the dirt and dust.. other places.. its no problem..

To clarify, Garrett won't run a turbo without a filter again, but he doesn't use a conventional filter either. We've been clamping a type of screen between the air shut off and the turbo. It keeps all the big stuff out without restricting the air flow.

A filter is a huge restriction. I can max the filter minder down on the street without a filter so imagine the restriction with the filter. If dirt from the track is what your talking about just route your intake to the farthest point forward. If your getting that much dirt from your tires in front of your bumper while moving forward try pulling with a gear other than reverse.

Yea, I know a lot of people say they pull without it. Anybody know if s300 wheels are balanced separately like the holset wheels are or is the turbine and compressor balanced together?

I replaced the wheel on my s300 without balancing. The wheel had cuts where it had been balanced separately.

Oh and I to replace my wheel while running an AFE on the street.

I would imagine if you ran a 5" intake pipe y'd to a good pair of filters, it'd be sufficient

A little off topic but how did it run.

Well, here's the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d9mv1thtsk

307' on that pull. It definatly runs out way better than the vp44 did. But I still don't like how I'm dropping so many rpms off of the line. But then again I still need to put my 5k gsk's in. I'm also gonna try either some .022 or 191 DV's, thinking it's prob too muck fuel for a Silverbullet.

Thats good to know. I'll prob give II a call and see if they will send me out a new one. If not one of you guys from Engineered Diesel will prob be gettin a call.

if you're running full slut DV's, that's probably why it's falling off when you shock load it
