Rant-Junk Sleds

So... what place did 162' get ya TJ? :D

2nd maybe? i only saw 1 truck that may have pulled further (silver dually cummins)...but to be honest i stopped watchin the pulls after a while...75 ft pulls arent as exciting as you guys might think LOL

TJ got second with that hook. I am with TJ on this one, if the Rebel sled is at another pull I will turn around and go home. When we pulled in we both thought about turning around and heading home. I would rather drive farther to go to a pull with a good sled that works. Track conditions were so bad because of the sled breaking that they actually turned the track around, that is the second side that they had torn up trying to get started.

Yes, I put 75' pulls right up there with racing 8000 pound trucks for spectator thrills!!!
LOL

You guys want to see a real piece of iron search, BULLSKIN Township pull in PA.:hehe:

Gene's familiar with one of Loves sleds that's prone to operator error.

I guess I should feel privlaged to have the"Blue Stinger" sled so close to home. Its been around for a long time as well but not to offten it craps out.

They should have dug a hole in that sh### track and baried that red and white piece of crap in it.

So tj do you happen to know how much more the new sleds costs? I guess you woudnt mind paying double for each hook fee? Bc they are double the cost, cecilton is just starting to have these pulls, they know the track isnt perfect, they know the sled isnt perfect, but they are a VOLUNTEER Fire company, they just cant blow 10k on a track, they have a small budget, just like every other VOLUNTEER Company in this country to operate their company on, So at of respect to them dont come on here bashing them, instead call them and talk to them. And you wasted ur time?? nobody told you had to go, how about thanking them for volunteering there time to put on a event for everyone's enjoyment. I would of been there but i was at viewing for Our Volunteer Fire co Fire Cheif that was killed in a line of duty death Last Wendsay.

they should have tuckahoe's portable scales done soon so we will try to rent that out to some pulls. boycott rebel sled

ill pay more to hook if it means the sled will run the entire time. im sure others will too cuz you seen that there are guys that travel 3 hours and stayed for 8+ hours to hook even with the track being torn up and the sled broke, and this was a fundraising pull with no prize money. the guys who are out there throw plenty of money in their trucks, and spend hundreds on fuel to travel, why not spend an extra 10-20 bucks on the hook fee and get a decent sled.

they do what they can with the track that wasnt the problem had the sled been working properly. i've pulled on worse tracks.

I am not bashing the fire companies at all, dont take it that way. I hope they will see tho that these guys will pay more to have a decent sled. you get a good sled and the event goes well and it will get better each time. I can't wait til Tuckahoe gets their portable scales...I hope they put that sled out of business cuz nobody will hire that scrap metal to show up.

You'd think those boys would have some pride in their equipment and maintain it so it works.

So nobody cares if its a $40 hook fee? We went from $20 to $25 a hook and we heard a lot sh*t from people.

And you are bashing them, you are saying you wont come to there pull again bc it sucked, and puting a bad taste in ppl's mouths about them. So call them and talk to them with ur thoughts and help them instead of hurting them.

I heard from more then one person that they wanted to wait a few more weeks until they were able to get clay down on the track and get it better prepared... but the guy running the event said the track was good and didnt need any more time and to have it this past weekend. CLEARLY... they should have waited

i understand things cost a lot of money... but after a showing like this past weekend when the track was in no condition... how many people do you think will come back next time and pull or risk pulling in those same conditions?

seems like they will lose a lot of money on the next pull due to people not showing up if they dont get some nice clay down on the track or a new sled

I'll pay $40 if a sled shows up that can run without multiple breakdowns per event.

Lets take it beyond the pullers, how many spectators come and paid $3 to watch a pull like that will want to come back again. Nobody wants to sit and be bored watching the sled go 40-50' and then taking 7-8 minutes between trucks to drag the sled back with a tractor, and then drag/roll the track. My family and friends will only come to the Buck and watch because even they told me they wont waste the time/money to go to a pull that takes 12 hours to put on and show sucks because the sled broke AGAIN.

It did suck, sorry for telling the truth. Its also not CVFD's fault that it sucked, its the owners of the sled who do not update/repair/maintain the equipment to make it worthwhile. The sled breaking only hurt CVFD because there were a number of guys who went and got their money back and didn't pull. I'll be happy to come out to Sudlersville, or Cecilton's pulls any weekend and support them if a different sled is there. Trust me, you don't have to hire the big dollar Decision Maker sleds either, there are more options around.

Bushwacker, Blue Stinger, Terminator, Tuckahoe's sled (soon as they get the scales), the Orange/purple sled that I cant remember the name of...

I wont go anywhere and pull that sled again, i dont care if its the small town VFD pull or if God himself was holding the pull at the pearly gates. I'll stay home or travel elsewhere to pull a sled thats worth hooking to, even if it costs me $40.

You can keep going with this if you want, or you can relax and take what I am saying and use it if you guys put on another pull. Use it to make it a success rather than 100 pullers leaving and saying F-it, I wont be back.

the track is what it is, ive pulled on worse, you do what you can. if there was a properly functioning sled the track would have been alot better. i'll go back on pull on that same track anytime with a decent sled.

I understand what your sayin TJ... and I understand that the type of soil on the eastern shore is the softer and sandy type soil.

I guess its not every places desire to make the best track possible by bringin in a bunch of soil and clay from outside areas...not every place can afford to rbing in clay or have clay naturally like the buck...

so i guess they make the best track possible with what they got. (didnt mean to be stepping on any toes)

i've only pulled that one once or twice and it starts heavy but worked well when i saw it.
