s300g?

thanks for the info. like i said, i'm not really shooting for a goal, just wanting a little more power to pull fuel and fertilizer trailers during the spring and camper in the summer.

I would advise taking some time to pick a specific goal and outline what you are looking for. Planning things out will save you money and result in a much better balanced setup.

Welcome to CompD. We're glad you're ready to join us and do get serious but we are not going to hold your hand. This is a competition site.

well i really dont have a number goal. just a goal of a more reliable diesel engine. idk how to explain myself any better. 400? 350? idk what the hp and tq will be when im done. and im not asking you to hold my hand. cause im not one to get in way over my head. this is not set in stone. im trying to get information so i can make a list of parts so i can get competitive. im not a noob in the diesel world. ive been around them as long as ive been around. lived on a farm my whole life. not a city boy if thats whay you guys are trying to imply. sorry for the long post...just stressed out from planting season. youd know what i mean if youve ever been through planting crops. thank you. as for the he351 no i have not but ill look into it.

that motor was designed to run forever at a certain operating range

if you go over that range, longevity will suffer

granted you are only going over by a little

yeah i get what your saying. i guess what i meant by reliability is getting more power so it gets up and go better under load.

as for the turbo issue i think a 62 is probly what ill be looking at getting. probly 12 housing. 14 would be nice but lag will most likely be greater, correct?

DDP 2's are not 5x.012 just so ya know. There are cheaper options out there that are just as good or better.

If I wanted more power and stock like driving I would look into twinning the truck. If you can fab and weld it really is not that complicated. You could buy a primary turbo and all the parts for the price of a S300g. Stock spooling and all the air that you could use, not to mention clean. A 62 is a great turbo but you could probably make it pretty smokey with some basic pump tuning and dumping the plate. Smoke equals less MPG.

good point that would be nice but idk if id ever get there. i just got to thinking the 57mm charger will be more street drivable, but the 62mm would be good when future upgrades come in. the super b looks like a really nice turbo and read some good reviews. 36 psi when the waste gate opens...which isn't all that bad. i always thought rule of thumb was 1psi-10hp.

not ricer math..just what ive read on a couple diesel forums.

not like anyone follows that if thats true haha.

what turbo can do that??

i just read another site that said 1psi=10hp at the wheels. that might be what the other forums meant.

Point he's making is if you have enough flow and less restriction your boost to horsepower ratio will change and your ricer math goes out the window.

i was also saying rule of thumb, for a stock truck...not a set in stone rule. just what other diesel forums have stated.

and i was just wondering what turbo can do that...cought my attention.

This. I've seen 50 psi out of my 64mm a couple times and with 14* of timing and a super lean fuel mixture, I was no where close to 500hp.
