s300g?

I would rather have sac nozzle injectors than VCO. Even Weston has said that they are an improvement for a performance build. SDX even has a new line of sac injectors.

The s300g is a great little turbo for the right application. It cost less that a grand new so it's really not that bad. But it is not a turbo for a high performance application in any way. It's for stock to very mildly modified trucks only. If you only want say 350hp to tow with I would advise considering one.

thank you for the info. bout time i got some info that i was helpful instead of trying to prove me wrong when im asking questions.

Highest HP on least amount of manifold pressure? - CompD

RonA, a member on here dynoed 1218hp with only about 70psi. Sometimes that formula is close but it's just a coincidence.

Turbine size and design has a large effect on how a turbo spools, if the s300g and s362 have the same size turbine the difference in spool is not that much. The 65 and 68mm turbines match the 62mm compressor well, so try to stick with one of those.

Forced Inductions has a few non standard turbos that are very reasonably priced that could meet your needs. FI Borg Warner Talk to DRTurbo for the best size for you and pricing.

Also if you wanted twins you can get kits pretty cheap. Source Automotive offers a lot of parts to help you build a kit if you are a DIY type.

thanks! twins would be sweet. id def do it myself.

what turbo can do that??

I bet this GT55 can do it:

175lbs is more than enough for 1000hp and all at a pressure ratio of just 3:1

i wonder if that's close to the size as the one a guy was using in a couple issues ago of diesel power mag. he had one big single and had over 1000 hp.

I ran an s300g, and wasn't impressed. I ran a 62/68/14 and towed at 24,000 lbs gross-way better than the s300g. I don't think I could ever recommend one as a single.

My truck had 5x.012s, 10 plate, 18 degrees, and very conservative afc settings. Have never been to a dyno or track, so I couldn't tell you the horsepower.

I didn't change anything on the setup between the two turbos other than afc.

Well I'm running a 300 and although my power goals aren't as great as alot of u guys on here, I'm very happy with it for now. My original goal was to help out with the gap between 3rd and 4th while towing 10k up the mountain. Hope to find out this summer it that works, but my truck is a whole different animal with the mods done. Really am happy to drive it now.

Sounds like the you are in the same boat as I was, only wanting your truck to feel right. Mine always felt like it was starving for air and fuel and very sluggish to drive. Those days are over and I hope I have kept most of the reliability. I'm sure it all boils down to the owners choices, just thought I would add a good report for the smaller turbo in my sig. Might add that I paid fair money for my turbo, but I know little bout them and wanted pro help.

Still tuning..........................

Oops no sig here,

Can you elaborate on what the 300g lacked at that the 62 handled better? Just not enough air for your setup? I would estimate the 300g is a little small for 5x.012s, is that how you felt?

I put the s300g in before the 5x.012s. Didn't really see any difference. The egts were cooler, but barely noticeable. Put in the 5x.012s as someone told me I didn't have enough fuel for the turbo (I think he thought I had a super b special). Threw in an ED super 62/68/14 and boy did it wake up! EGTs were down higher in the RPM range also. As fast as this 62 lights I really think a truck with just pump mods will push a 62 OK. Given a smaller turbine.

Now I have a 475 under the 62 and 5x.016s waiting for my head gasket to seat in.
