Second guessing myself on primary turbo choice...

I am trying to make a final decision on what I should choose for my primary turbo for my twins setup.

I plan on using this as a DD and towing sub 10k.

My top turbo is a HE351CW with a 40mm external wastegate.

I want to take advantage of lower rpm power sub 2500k.

I know BD uses a s366 with 73 exhaust and .91ar for their towing primary

I have been contemplating:

S465 : 65mm compressor 83mm turbine 1.1 AR

S472: 72mm compressor 83mm turbine 1.1 AR

S475: 75mm compressor 83mm turbine 1.1 AR

I may be over thinking the decision....
I will not be drag racing the truck, just want a truck with great pickup and keep the EGTs low.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

S472: 72mm compressor 83mm turbine 1.1 AR

That would be my pick.

If you went with the 475 get a 92 wheel.

if i was you i would do the 475/92/1.10
then do a cam. you will be more than happy

I believe they use a 1.10 or 1.15 open housing

The He351 by itself will almost push 500 HP worth of air on a 12 valve.

When you add an atmosphere turbo under it, it gets a little bit lazier but still has better spool-up than any journal bearing 62mm S300 turbo on the market.

The fact that my He351 over HT4B (83x126mm Compressor) twins spool-up like this:
100 MPH burnout

148 MPH burnout

Leads me to believe that you should go for the S475, S478, or even an S480.

Obviously I don't tow with my race truck, but I have towed with an He351 and it tows better than a stock HX35. Based on the spool characteristics of my race truck's twins, I'd say you could run anything from 71mm to 88mm as the atmosphere turbo and have a great towing setup.

Thanks for the recommendations, I was intialy considering the s475 with the 83mm, but was concerned about the power in what will be my usable range.

It seems most like the s475. Just curious why the 92mm instead of the 83mm? Too restrictive, raising EGT's?

what injectors and cc pump you running. It cleans up nice.

5x.018 145* dual fed edge filter's removed, 024 DVs, 5.5K Governor Springs, 160 pump with turned barrels, rack plug, modified AFC, 70 psi lift pump feed pressure, 25* timing.

Pump's never been off the truck, no idea on the cc's, maybe 450?
