sigma pump

First off its not about the cc's Because no mod trucks outhere are set to what a 13mm P will do. Its about the speed of injection.
A Sigma will add more than 100 hp on our setup over a P.
Hyper's prepped Sigma out performs CDS's pump. When it comes to fuel and air HyperMax is second to no one!!

your set-up would make a huge difference in power gains...more fuel isn't always a good thing...i'd say if you had the turbo(s) and head to flow the air a sigma bolted on compared to a built P or 12 cylinder pump would make a lot more than a 100hp difference...

I understand what you are saying but,................if i were to unbolt a p7100 and put on a billet sigma on any truck i can only expect 100hp increase?????

So a sigma will not out-perform a 13mm plungered pump? So a 13mm p-pump will out "injection" a sigma, as far as injections/over time are concerned?

Off topic though it may be, where do these shops get these pumps? Or housings? If they are so obsolete how can they get them and not me? I understand if they are making thier own housings, but if they are not then how do they come accross them?

A Sigma is LOT Faster in injection timing, The reason the mod guys use them is for this reason, And not for total cc's because they are not set to max even on a 13 mm p.

At one time there were no housings available other than going to Hyper they had the market cornered because they bought them all up.

Van at Haisleys told me that when they switched to the sigma they were able to go up 2 gear sizes ! know that sure isn't only a 100hp

So from my limited pump knowledge, that's why the Sigma trucks "boost up" faster?? You can tell the difference between a p-pump truck, and sigma truck in the time it takes to launch...the Sigma comes alive a lot quicker to my untrained ear!

I will never forget the first time I held a blank billet housing. I about flung it through the ceiling tile because I was expecting something a bit heavier. ;)
Funny :)

I,ll just have to stick with Kurts old nependso pumphe ran last year.

Yea, that's a good way to put it.

Who knows, maybe they will find their way into drag racing in the near future. Gale Banks couldn't clean up that smoke or compete with that power!:st:

Ya know I hear there is one going into a 4x4 drag truck next year?!:what:

When he says two gears.. he's not talking about the kind of gears you are used to dealing with. The options available for the drop boxes those trucks have is huge... and when he says two gears.. that may have only changed the final ratio by a point or so...

Ah, dumb question....

If you go with a significantly larger plunger, then it would take less lift to deliver the same volume of fuel (assuming a similar cam profile).

So whereas a pump with a small plunger needs more lift (and that takes some time to accomplish), a larger plunger with the same type of cam profile would be "quicker" because it takes less travel (and thus less time on a similar cam profile). You wind up getting the same fuel with less duration....and this is what makes power, better spooling, etc.

Am I following that right or am I screwing it all up?

You got it. People can get more fuel out of a 12 mm pump, than I get out of my 13, but I chose the 13 for the ability to deliver it faster! We know that duration builds heat. Get the fuel in there as fast as possible.

all of the competing open trucks for the 2007 pulling season had either a sigma or a 12cyl pump period

well except double overtime but he doesnt count

I disagree. "How Do You Like Me Now" did not have a Sigma or 12cyl pump the whole season. Only after Corey Bought the truck was a Sigma Pump placed on the truck. You can even look in the September 2007 issue of DieselPower to see this.

and big bad dodge still isn't running a sigma or 12 cylinder pump he was runnin a 14mm pump

Not to speak for him, but i think he meant trucks that were competitive as in the trucks up front all the time.
